Google practically confirmed the Pixel Watch 5 in another embarrassing leak

Google certainly has a knack for silly leaks, and its upcoming Pixel 11 phones and the Pixel Watch 5 have already proven this once again. Not only did the company leak its own phones, but it also managed to lose a watch at the bottom of the ocean and further reveal its existence in one of its apps.

Pixel Watch 5 appears in a Google app ahead of its premiere

Google hasn’t mentioned the Pixel Watch 5 yet, but it has appeared inside the Google Health app. Spotted by @sameera_s_w on Telegram and reported by Android Authority, the watch showed up on top of the device list inside the app.

Once selected as a new device, the app shows a complete setup page and another screen with details about connecting Google Health and the Pixel Watch 5. Despite the listing, the app doesn’t reveal any specific details about the smartwatch.

Probably a placeholder listing

All images in the Pixel Watch 5 setup flow are identical to the flow of the Pixel Watch 4, including the device icon and the initial setup screen. None of the texts throughout the setup process appears to be specifically meant for the new watch either.

This most likely means that Google has added the new device as a placeholder in preparation for its upcoming premiere. On the other hand, rumor has it that the new model won’t introduce any significant design changes, which could explain using the same icons as its predecessor.

Keeping the same design may be disappointing for some, but Google already has a very strong foundation with last year’s model. In his in-depth review of the Pixel Watch 4, my colleague Peter called it the most pleasant smartwatch surprise of 2025, partially because of its “spectacular design language.”

Pixel Watch 5 is most likely launching August 12

Google has already announced a hardware event for August 12 where we’ll see the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. This is where the Pixel Watch 5 is most likely to launch.

The device is expected to come in a 41 mm and 45 mm version, both featuring the same CPU and GPU as last year’s models. However, there’s a chance the Watch 5 will feature 3 GB of RAM, instead of 2 GB.

Premature reveals are becoming the norm

Nobody should be surprised anymore, but I still find it funny how Google products manage to always leak well ahead of their premieres. I’ve said that before, but this definitely takes away from the excitement surrounding product launches, and I’d love for brands to guard their secrets a little better.
