The biggest innovation turns out to be one of the biggest flaws as well. | Image by PhoneArena
When the Galaxy S26 Ultra was announced, many praised the hardware-based Privacy Display feature. But as with many first-gen technologies, the Privacy Display didn't prove perfect.
One of the latest issues spotted by S26 Ultra owners involves a strange red tint appearing on the display. We asked how you would react if this happened to you, and the results are now in.
Most of you won't take it

Out of all votes, a staggering 61.7% said they would ask for a replacement unit if their Galaxy S26 Ultra developed a red tint on the screen. That's by far the most popular response.
The result suggests that for the majority of you, this kind of issue isn't enough to give up on the phone altogether. It could also mean that users are simply expecting Samsung to honor the warranty, especially given how expensive the device is.
The second most popular response goes in a whole different direction. Some 31.3% of you explained they'd return the Galaxy S26 Ultra and just grab another device.
For those users, a display issue appears to be enough to lose confidence in the phone altogether. Even though Samsung is reportedly looking into the problem, it appears that some of you wouldn't stick around long enough to find out if the root cause has been identified.
What would you do if your Galaxy S26 Ultra had a red tint?
Few would ignore the problem

Only 7% said they'd ignore the problem if the red tint issue was faint enough. This shows an overwhelming trend: most readers wouldn't compromise, especially when we're talking about an issue on a phone that costs as much as the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Even a subtle hardware defect appears to be a dealbreaker for many.
More needs to be done
Samsung may have debuted the breakthrough Privacy Display tech, but the innovation is just one part of the challenge. The real concern here is the fact that the red tint problem seems to have developed after a few months rather than being visible from the beginning.
That means most buyers likely haven't seen the display issues on day one (or during the return window) and suggests a broader problem with reliability.
Consumer trust could be lost

Recent rumors have indicated that Samsung might include Privacy Display tech across the entire Galaxy S27 lineup. If that's the plan, the South Korean tech giant will need to demonstrate that the technology is as reliable as it is innovative.
Hopefully, the root cause of the red tint problem will be found and, if possible, solved before the Galaxy S27 debut. Otherwise, Samsung risks losing the confidence of its fans.
