Apple's AirPods Max 2 are actually affordable at this new record low price, but there's a catch

While the word "affordable" very rarely fits in the same sentence as products like the AirPods Max 2 (especially after only a few months of availability), Woot is feeling unusually generous today, slashing no less than 220 bucks off the $549 regular price of Apple's latest and greatest over-ear headphones.

This crazy new discount is $120 higher than what Amazon has been offering (on and off) for the last couple of weeks or so, although it's not really fair to compare the two deals. That's because the e-commerce giant itself sells the second-gen AirPods Max at $100 under their list price in brand-new, unused, unopened, and undamaged condition, while Woot (which just so happens to be owned by Amazon) can save you 120 bucks more on "factory reconditioned" headphones.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 are also worth considering by high-end wireless headphones buyers right now at a solid discount of their own (in brand-new condition).

If you don't want to make any compromises regarding the condition of your next high-end wireless Bluetooth headphones or their warranty, Amazon is selling brand-new, unused, unopened, and undamaged AirPods Max 2 units at a pretty decent $100 discount too in five different colorways.

That's obviously... not ideal, as it essentially means you won't be the first owner of these deeply discounted bad boys, but on the bright side, cosmetic damage is described as "minimal" and a "full diagnostic test" is administered before any AirPods Max 2 units are deemed ready to be sold at $329 a pair.

The 90-day seller warranty accompanying your Woot purchase is... also not ideal, but unfortunately, that's almost always the kind of compromise you need to make to save big on an ultra-premium Apple product with H2 power, world-class active noise cancellation, Personalized Spatial Audio, Adaptive Audio, and up to 20 hours of uninterrupted listening time between charges.

Will the AirPods Max 2 ever score a higher discount than $100 or $120 in brand-new condition? Maybe, but likely only around Thanksgiving or Christmas and the odds of seeing any such price cut circle the $200 or $220 mark are lower than catching Santa Claus himself in the act of stuffing some of the best high-end Bluetooth wireless headphones into your Christmas stocking on December 25.
