Windows Phone 8.1 is here for AT&T's Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 920
In the midst of all of the news emanating from Berlin, we have some news on the domestic front to tell you. AT&T has started updating the Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 920, with Windows Phone 8.1. Besides adding the Action Center notification hub and a Swype-styled QWERTY keyboard feature called Word Flow, the update also adds virtual personal assistant Cortana to these two models.

AT&T started rolling out Windows Phone 8.1 back on July 24th, with the update for the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet. Other AT&T branded Lumia models already updated include the Nokia Lumia 520, Nokia Lumia 925 and the camera-centric Nokia Lumia 1020.

More information about the Windows Phone 8.1 update can be found on AT&T's Mobile Minute, which you can view by clicking on the video below.

Wow thats excellent! I believe the 920 came out in November two years ago. Way to support the older phones

Developers preview and skip carriers. Now god knows when they'll release the new firmware. I'm not talking about cyan. We're on D now.

It's a good thing that Microsoft is showing support for older WP8 models(Lumia, anyway). I have a Nokia Lumia 925 and use the developers preview so I don't wait for carriers to push out the update, but this is good nonetheless.

For the people posting above this update is not the same as developer preview it have the firmware update added with it also, so its a operating system update and firmware update......even if you have 8.1 operating system update you missing out on the firmware update and the features they added to the phone especially the camera features

I am talking about the two post above who said they skip carriers and just get the operating system update. I was saying that in order to get the firmware update that comes from the carrier, so in other words in my post I was saying if they want some of the new features even the camera features they cannot just forget carrier firmware updates, they need those too for the features the OS update do not give

Lumia handsets get all of the firmware via Nokia, even with the developers preview.

I know, but I was talking about in your post that you skip carrier updates, I was basically saying carriers give firmware updates that microsoft do not send with developer preview

AGH AGH Verizon what the hell are you doing to your Windows Phone Customers We did not get the Update to Windows 8.1, or the CYAN update, or the update to Windows phone 8.1 and I hear Microsoft and NOKIA will have other updates for Windows 8.1 smart phones. could some one at Verizon contact Phone Arena Staff and give them info about how much longer do Windows smart phone owners like me have wait for our UPDATES.
