Windows Mobile 6.5.x to be renamed Windows Phone Classic
1
Things aren't going to look too dim for the current line of Windows Mobile 6.x.x devices. As we've heard already about Windows Phone 6 Starter Edition being targeted for emerging markets, now it points that Windows Mobile 6.5.x will eventually land as being named Windows Phone Classic – that's only when Windows Phone 7 Series comes to fruition later in the year. So those that are still contemplating sticking with the current offerings can expect to see the same level of continued support as Microsoft aims to launch their new platform. It'll even go as far as coexisting with the new operating system as a lot of existing users might rely on some of the services it offers currently. If the traditional Windows look appeals more to you than the flashy departure with Windows Phone 7 Series, then go ahead and continue to use your handset as Microsoft will still cast out that backup line for you as they move ahead with their new mobile operating system.
