Wi-Fi sniffing apps says bye bye to the App Store
In the last couple of weeks, it's apparent that Apple has come clean and hard on some of its apps – adding a new level of frustration with its developers. In another stunning turn of events, Apple has yanked all apps on the App Store that allows the iPhone to sniff out close by Wi-Fi networks. Instead of using the default Wi-Fi searching client on the phone, these apps functioned the same way but generally offered a cleaner and sometimes optimized interface. Some of the developers affected by all of this state that the apps were taken off because they utilized “private frameworks” to gather information on close by Wi-Fi networks. It follows after Apple has been rampant on cleaning out the App Store as the Cupertino based company banned sexually provocative content from the App Store a couple of weeks ago. The fear of being banned or completed removed is something that most developers are now following closely to their hearts as Apple continues its in-house cleaning.
