Verizon sends out letter of apology, $25 gift card to those who ordered the Droid Incredible
With the AMOLED screen shortage continuing to plague the HTC Droid Incredible, those who ordered the device on or before June 28th and have to wait an extra seven days to receive it, are getting a letter of apology in the mail from Big Red along with a $25 gift card. As we reported, HTC has decided to stop using Samsung's AMOLED technology because of the shortage of parts which leads to delays, and will switch to Sony's Super LCD TFT screens. Verizon is apparently changing the SKU for the Droid Incredible which gave the appearance that the handset was being phased out by the carrier when in effect, HTC is replacing the AMOLED screen on the phone for the Sony LCD display. No date has been announced when the new version of the Droid Incredible will be shipped. Orders taken for the Droid Incredible today will be shipped out on July 29th with Samsung's screen.

I was thinking the same thing. If you could do that then I bet that there are some people who switched to the droid x that probably wished they waited for their incredible for just a little but longer.

Actually that is exactly what you can do on launch day. Verizon has a plan in place for people wanting to cancel there orders of the Incredibles to pick up a Droid X immediatly. Go VZW!

Yeah I know that, but I'm saying that the people who already canceled their Droid Incredible for the X may have missed out on the $25 gift card

AMOLED displays use less power for better battery life and they can display more colors making images look cleaner and crisper.

And a REDICULOUS contrast ratio (blacker blacks, whiter whites) like 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Any blacker and your looking at Akon! Zinnggg

They also fade out more in the sun, but AMOLED is better still.

Dang. Even with the AMOLED display the battery life was still pretty bad. Wonder what the LCD is going to do to the battery life now?

Seems like htc sense ui really drains a lot of power as both the droid incredible and evo have had battery problems. Its good that verizon is being mature and respectful to their customers. They could have just said "what droid incredible shortage? You just aren't placing your orders correctly" lol

Haha... That wouldn't be a stab at Apple would it? I think Sense UI actually slows the phone down a lot too after seeing the benchmark tests.

Hmmm, my HTC ARIA as SENSE UI and I have no issues with the battery.......
