Verizon LG G8 ThinQ update adds call blocking feature, Air Motion improvements
LG may have some issues updating its last year flagships to Android 9.0 Pie, but its most recent phone, the LG G8 ThinQ has just received its first important update at Verizon. Besides the April security patch that LG G8 ThinQ users will get, the update also adds some improvements specific to LG smartphones.
Air Motion is getting a tutorial that can be found in the settings. It will allow LG G8 ThinQ users to learn how to activate Air Motion and how to move their hand to use the feature. The update also changes the distance to activate Air Motion from 3-5 inches to 2-5 inches from the front camera. The same changes are available to the “Shortcut and capture” and “Control music and videos” features.
The next important improvements concern Hand ID and include some guide text changes such as usage condition that now recommends using this specific feature only when the phone is on a table or a holder. Also, LG has decided to remove the guide text to scan hand when the phone is in your hand.

Last but not least, LG G8 ThinQ now features a block option that will allow users to block a caller right after the call. According to Verizon, the update is pushed OTA (over the air), so you'll just have to wait to be notified when it becomes available, or you could head to Settings / About Phone / Software update / Check for update and try to pull it manually.
