If you have the latest version of the Google app (v10.53.3) on your Pixel handset, toggling on or off some of the features for Google Assistant might seem easier following an update according to Android Police. Open "Settings" and go to Apps & notifications. There, you will find a new setting for Assistant. Tap on it and you'll be able to toggle on "Voice Match." This is the feature that will recognize your voice and activate Google Assistant when you say "Hey Google" or "Ok Google." You can also toggle on or off the ability to activate Google Assistant by squeezing both sides of the phone. The menu will also allow you to change the sensitivity of the squeeze required to activate Assistant.
While you're on this page, you can change the sound of your Assistant's voice (you can select John Legend's voice if you wish), and more. And all of this can now be done from the system settings. This update was already found on our Google Pixel 2 XL, but if it hasn't reached your Pixel yet, it will soon. You might not consider it a big deal, but if you like to play around with various settings for the virtual digitial helper, the update will save you from having to do a lengthy "tap" dance into your Google Account settings.
Update makes it easier to make changes to Google Assistant
Don't forget that Android 10 is now available as an OTA update for all Pixel models. To update your Pixel open the settings and go to System > Advanced > System update. We had been using the new Android build since beta 6, and even if you're familiar with the iOS gestures used on the newer iPhone models, it is going to take time for you to build up the muscle memory to run the new gestures on Android 10. If the new system-wide dark theme is on your mind, simply open the settings screen, go to Display and toggle on Dark theme.
