U.S. Cellular to launch HTC Merge on April 29th
A photo of a leaked internal U.S. Cellular document shows that the regional carrier is planning on launching the HTC Merge on April 29th. The device doesn't have high-end specs, but still has the ability to get things done. The 3.8 inch Super LCD screen has resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and is equipped with a Qualcomm MSM7630 under the hood, clocked at 800MHz. While there is no 4G connectivity or a front-facing camera, the Merge does offer a slide out landscape QWERTY keyboard that resembles the highly regarded keyboard on the HTC Touch Pro2. A 5MP camera captures video at 720p and the whole package is kept running with Android 2.2. Unfortunately, there is no word on how U.S. Cellular plans on pricing the device.

Besides the coming release of the HTC Merge, the document shows that the regional carrier will launch the Windows Phone 7 flavored HTC 7 Pro on June 14th. The document also shows a number of devices that have met the "End of Life". On the carrier's EOL list for this month is the Pantech Coach. Other names soon to depart the U.S. Cellular lineup include the Samsung Acclaim (May), BlackBerry Bold 9650 and the HTC Touch Pro2 (both in September).

Thanks Philip!
