Sony's Xperia Z2 is also getting its taste of Lollipop, roll-out starts today!
It was just yesterday, when the Lollipop update for the Sony Xperia Z3 and XperiaZ3 Compact finally started its official rollout. That's right – Android 5.0.2 is slowly but surely taking the world as we speak, and it has started its journey from Northern Europe. Now, just a day after, we hear that the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2 Tablet, and the Xperia Z2 handset are also getting sweet Lollipop. Well, that was fast!

Now, unfortunately, Sony has said that the Android 5.0 update will not be hitting handsets outside of the Z line of flagships – no love for the E3, M2, M2 Aqua, C3, T3, or T2 Ultra. And even there, we are not quite sure if it will go all the way to the original Xperia Z, or stop at the Z2.

As for other regions – we did hear about a Lollipop update being prepped for launch in India by Sony's R&D team there, but it seems the rumor was an inaccurate one, as according to it, the update should've rolled out by now. So, we guess it's down to the waiting game again!

Nah, after the 4.4.4 update my battery has been noticeably affected as well. I'm lucky if I can get 4h of display on time now.

After 4.4.4 update, the phone doesn't seem to go to sleep when you have stamina active. With almost full charge, I'm looking at 18 hrs of battery. Then I turn stamina, delete the data, force stop it. Then I restart the phone, and i turn the stamina mode back on, and I see 4 days of battery life again... O.o i usually need to do that every other day

Stamina Mode collects information about how you use the phone so it can say how long your battery will last, when you delete the data you delete the data that Stamina Mode has kept to understand your usage routine, therefore it's practically very normal to see longer hours when you re-enable Stamina Mode

My problem and so were a lot of Z2 users were the phone won't actually go to sleep anymore. I checked my battery usage after a day of light usage, my Z2 used 25% of battery on standby and 25% on display. Base on my experience, my display usually take out about 40-60%. It's very weird that my phone would used battery on standby that much which is usually below 10%.

How is the camera? do you also have Google Camera?, does it shoot in RAW? Do you have some old picture you can reproduce now using the same camera settings?

thanks... I will still hold on a bit, I am still reading some stuff that needs ironing on Sony's forums... How about microSD support, are you able to edit files using third party apps? For instance, can you rename a file that's on a microSD using ES File Explorer or another third party app? Also are you able to move certain apps to the SD card, thus freeing some internal memory space? Thanks for your feedback!

Hello Joseph Nero, I would like to know the changes introduced to camera.. Is there manual focus option? Can you adjust shutter speed now? Any difference in picture quality?

I want to see if they got rid of those crappy camera algorithms from older software. Really, hardware wise they are so capable units but Sony's software sucks and my Z3C takes worse pictures than all flagships and when it comes to color reproduction even my old 4S has nicee tones. C'mon sony you can do better

Unfortunately they haven't touch camera at all (image processing is still crap).

But Z3 was released with 4.4.4 and it's camera software is one of worst ever. This can't be tolerated in phones from company that specializes in DSLRs.

"Now, unfortunately, Sony has said that the Android 5.0 update will not be hitting handsets outside of the Z line of flagships – no love for the E3, M2, M2 Aqua, C3, T3, or T2 Ultra." PA, please PA...please get your facts right. It was the staff that said those phones won't get Lollipop update (but after that they said they can't provide any infomation about it), and more importantly, Sony didn't even make an official announcement that those phones won't get Lollipop.

Just sideload it, it's pretty easy for Xperia phones as Sony's giving official tools to do it.
