Sony Xperia XZ and X Performance get the January Android security patches

Sony graced the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance with another software update, implementing the Android security patches for January. Prior to it, Sony had promised fixing an issue with the phone clock resetting after a reboot, so the fix may have made with this update. There's no changelog to confirm whether that's the case.

The update is released for both single and dual-SIM versions of the smartphones. It bumps the Android build number to 39.2.A.0.386, in case you need to check.

In early January, Sony released a bug fix update for the same two handsets. They also got the December security updates right on Christmas day. Whoever is working on maintaining the Xperia XZ and X Performance is knocking it out of the park lately. Not all of Sony's premium smartphones are getting the same timely reatment, but a respectable part of the Xperia fleet – including old-ish phones like the Xperia Z3+ and the overlooked Z4 Tablet – is on Android Nougat. So have a cookie, Sony!
