Sony Xperia Z3+ and Z3+ Dual receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update

The Xperia Z3+ and Z3+ Dual are the latest Sony smartphones to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The Japanese company has been pretty active in the first weeks of 2017, as the entire Xperia Z5 family got the update earlier this week.

If you've got either of the two Xperia smartphones, then you should check for a new update with firmware number 32.3.A.0.372. It's the same build that the Xperia Z5 family received recently and it will update the Xperia Z3+ and Z3 Dual to Android 7.0 Nougat.

It's also worth mentioning the update also contains the December security patch. The official changelog also mentions multi-window support, which should allow users to run two apps at the same time, as well as switch between them by double tapping. Sony also promises longer battery life with Android 7.0 Nougat, but that remains to be seen.

The Japanese handset maker is now seeding Android 7.0 Nougat to a small percentage of Xperia Z3+ and Z3+ Dual users, but the rollout should be expanded to a larger audience over the coming days.

Two-year old Sony flagship receives Nougat at the same time as Galaxy S7. Enough said. (Actually probably even earlier because I still haven't read about Nougat seeding globally to S7, only to the ones who participated in Beta testing, let's not forget China update being halted).

And in everything else it u tell me, is the hardware important or a minor upgarde, that too by only few weeks

Well, clearly you cannot compare a two year old flagship with the S7. The Sony competitors to the S7 are the Xperia X Performance and the Xperia XZ which received Nougat one and a half month ago. :-)) Also Sony doesn't suck in everything else. Only the fact that the OS is a much more tasteful, closer to stock Android version than heavily modified, cartoonish Touchwiz is important to many people. Also Sony is according to reports the most reliable Android manufacturer when it comes to software.

Sony is only good at pure OS and UI that stays the same for 999 generations crappy hardware with premium pricing for low value destroyed them and will continue to do so they claim to have the best cameras while in real life they are abolished by every single competitor , they don't bother with OIS and when they did , they put it on the front camera of the XA Ultra for selfies , and only the front camera , they didn't put it in its rear camera , absolute rubbish thinking , nevermind a dual or triple led flash or a xenon flash no wireless charging support , no longer using MHL , small batteries and no longer maintaining their long life time battery life at least samsung is trying to innovate , SONY is doing absolute NOTHING , not even to cope with competition .

Sony also innovate. When Samsung finally decides to implement Digital Noise Cancellation which has been a staple for Sony since Z2, come back and tell me about innovation. Waterproofing was also another thing that Samsung had to implement because of Sony.

4K screen, LDAC which is even higher quality Apples W1 bluetooth, first to waterproof open headphone and usb ports, NFC chip since Xperia S 5 years ago, first to introduce the now standard 1/2.3 inch camera sensor, pure USB audio function since Kit Kat 4.4 Samsung boys can't understand that other manufacturers innovate too.

If you call a Snapdragon 820 crappy, what else should they use? Intel Core i7 with Nvidia Quadro M6000? I think you should research a bit. About OIS, I have handled a Sony device and the SteadyShot EIS is on par with some OIS systems when stabilizing photos and videos, the only difference is that EIS can't help you in low light situations. Also, you should know that they have a very promising camera sensor in the Xperia XZ, but the processing was never refined too much. If you say that Sony cameras are crap, why does Samsung, LG, OnePlus, and other OEMS use Sony sensors? Get your facts right. G'day

Well at least they don't suck at 'blowing up in people's faces' so that is another nice feature going for them.

Good for Sony users. I am running Androd 7.0 beta on my Honor 8 and it is great.

Sony's software support has always been great. Especially my old Z got a lot of updates. I'm sure that if Qualcomm updated the SD801 drivers, even the Z2 and Z3 would get Nougat soon.

If only that'd happened. My Z3C is still good. It definitely can handle Nougat. I'd go custom ROM but they're buggy.

Qualcomm is not going to update the drivers unfortunately... So no Nougat for any SD801 device.
