Meet Sony's new mid-range smartphone, the Xperia 8
Sony Xperia 8 is a brand new mid-range smartphone that's been recently introduced in Japan. We're not sure whether or not the phone will make it to other countries at the moment, but if it does here is what you should expect.
First off, this is likely to be Sony's first mid-ranger to feature IP65/68 certification (dust and waterproof). Furthermore, the smartphone boasts a massive 6-inch display with Full HD+ (2520 x 1080 pixels) resolution and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. There's Gorilla Glass 6 on front and back as well.
Since this is a middle-class phone, it's no wonder that Sony opted for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Now, on the backside, there's a dual-camera (12MP+8MP), while in the front you'll find a secondary 8-megapixel selfie snapper.
The phone will be powered by a 2,760 mAh battery and it will include NFC (Near Field Communication) support and a headphone jack. Apparently, the phone will be available for purchase in four different colors – white, black, orange, and blue for the equivalent of $500.
Since this is a mid-range smartphone, $500 might be a hefty amount that few will be willing to pay, but keep in mind that such products are much more expensive in Japan than the rest of the world. If Sony decides to bring it to other countries, we expect the Xperia 8 to be priced slightly lower.
