Samsung Galaxy S8 should be receiving a new software update right now, here's what's new
Hey, you! Got a Galaxy S8 or a Galaxy S8+?

If the answer is a resounding, notchless "yes!", then you should probably start looking out for a new software update that's set to hit your device pretty soon.

Boasting the full-fledged August security patch, which should theoretically bring a nice piece of mind to even the most conscious security zealots out there. The software update is also introducing improvements to Samsung's Game Launcher app, which weirdly translates to "turn on Game Launcher and use more of samsung's game services" from German to English.

The build number of the software update is G950FXXU3CRGH and has been first sighted in Germany, but it should likely arrive to most other Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices pretty soon. It should appear automatically on your device as soon as it's available, allowing you to update by simply tapping the respective notification in your notifications pane.

Should you not trust technology in the slightest, you could also manually check for the update by heading to your settings menu and manually check if it's already available for your device.

Supposedly, a similar update should hit the Galaxy S8+. Be patient enough and you should get it.

I have an AT&T branded S8+ and I still haven't received my oreo update yet. I won't hold my breath on getting this.

He is either trolling or doesn't know how to update his phone. We are on ATT and my husband has had the update for 2 to 3 month, maybe even 4 months.

Before Pixels even, what's going on lol Had Google even released Aug security update yet, it's usually today that it starts rolling out. I suspect something going on here is not what it seems. Edit: patches are usually dated the 5th, not the first. At least in Pixels and other One series. I bet this is BS.

If it is the real deal right on. It just seems suspicious af to me, not on the up and up. Edit: if this is real, may be the note 9 will update to P out of box... It's rumored idk how true though.

Whats your problem? Everyone in germany with a "unlocked" S9 can download the update G960FXXU2BRGA since yesterday and it have the august securityupdate. Edit: sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s9/SM-G960F/DBT/download/G960FXXU2BRGA/227521/

Only a month late then. Should just get an iPhone. They are far superior than Samsung in EVERY way. You are welcome:-)

So once its been through the network providers, it should hopefully only take another year or two before majority of Samsung users actually get the update. Well done Samsung!
