Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to be announced on August 26 in New York?

By now, we’ve heard a lot of rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, seen as the biggest competitor of the anticipated “anniversary iPhone”, but the exact timing of the model’s announcement has so far been unknown. A familiar source on Twitter, however, seems to have an idea about the launch date – the informer, going by the nickname Ice Universe, claims that the Galaxy Note 8 will be presented at a special event which is to be held in New York on August 26.

Of course, the information is far from official, but given the fact that the last two Galaxy Note models have been announced days before the IFA expo, which starts on September 1 this year, the date above seems a logical assumption. If the August 26 date happens to be correct, then the Galaxy Note 8 will be presented several weeks before the announcement of the next iPhones, which are expected in September.

Of course, it is always good to take the information from such a source with a grain of salt, but we can’t ignore the fact that Ice Universe has a rich history of speculative (and sometimes accurate) posts covering a wide range of devices, including some fairly believable leaks related to the Galaxy Note 8. There was also a picture (below) of a protective glass, presumably intended for Samsung’s new phablet, pointing at a design made in the style of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+.

According to recent rumors, the Galaxy Note 8 will have a 6.3-inch display and a Snapdragon 836 SoC. The new phablet is also expected to be the first high-end Samsung device with a dual camera module.
