Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ screen tipped to set a new record

With the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series less than two weeks away, some exciting new information about the Galaxy Note 10+ was revealed on Twitter by tipster Ice Universe (@Universeice). Based on renders created by Ishan Argawal (@ishanagarwal24), the Infinity-O display on the Galaxy Note 10+ will cover a record 92.5% of the phone's body. This compares with the 88.5% screen-to-body ratio on the Huawei P30 Pro and the 88.4% ratio on the OnePlus 7 Pro. In order to achieve this record design, Samsung uses a punch-hole for the selfie camera (the "O" in the Infinity-O display) and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. Our analysis of the Galaxy Note 10shows that it will have a screen-to-body-ratio in the neighborhood of 91%.

The side bezels on the Galaxy Note 10+ are 1.5mm thick. To put that in perspective, consider that this is .059 of an inch. The top bezel weighs in at 2mm while the bottom chin measures 3.7mm. Based on a previously leaked specs sheet, we expect the Galaxy Note 10+ to be equipped with a 6.8-inch 1440p QHD+ display. In the states, the Snapdragon 855 (+) Mobile Platform will drive the device while elsewhere the Exynos 9825 chipset will be under the hood. The Galaxy Note 10+ will come with 12GB of memory and storage options will start at 256GB.

The back of the Galaxy Note 10+ will carry four sensors. There will be a 12MP primary camera, a 12MP telephoto camera, a 16MP wide-angle camera and a Time of Flight sensor (ToF). This measures the time it takes for infrared beams to bounce off a subject and return to the phone. The data collected can be used to create 3D maps for more accurate facial recognition and improved bokeh effects on portraits. The 4300mAh battery supports 45W fast charging and 20W wireless charging. Color options will include Black, White, and a Crystal gradient.

Many Samsung fans will rejoice at the disappearance of the controversial dedicated Bixby button. That doesn't mean that Bixby itself has been eliminated as the digital assistant can now be summoned by using the phone's power button. One thing that the Galaxy Note 10+ will have that you won't find on its smaller sibling is a microSD slot. Perhaps the larger size of the Galaxy Note 10+ allowed Samsung to include this feature on the premium model. Regardless, there probably will be many consumers who don't come close to storing 256GB of apps, photos, videos and media content on their Galaxy Note 10 unit.

The S Pen will have a few new features this year. When used to highlight text on the Galaxy Note 10 screen, it will make a highlighter sound. If that means that the pen will generate a cringe-worthy high-pitched squeak, the kind that reminds you of a balloon being handled, you might want to disable this feature. There reportedly will be additional Air Command options when the S Pen hovers over the display and an unnamed Samsung executive says that the stylus will show improved performance.

As we told you this morning, Samsung is now taking reservations on the new Galaxy Note 10 series. Those who opt for joining the queue will have 72 hours after the phones go on sale to place a genuine order, or else their reservation will be canceled. It appears that the actual release date of the new models will be August 23rd.
