If you're planning to buy any of
Samsung's second generation Galaxy A smartphones (Galaxy A3,
Galaxy A5, or
Galaxy A7), you can do it this month only if you're in China. In other parts of the world, the new handsets
will be released starting January. And it seems that it's the first half of January, at least if we talk about Europe.
According to a Dutch retailer, which currently takes pre-orders for the
Galaxy A3 (2016) and
Galaxy A5 (2016), the two handsets will be available on January 8. The Galaxy A3 costs €329, while the Galaxy A5 can be ordered for €429. At the moment, it's not clear if the
Galaxy A7 (2016) will also be released in Europe.
Both the new Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 are 7.3mm-thin and feature 5 MP and 13 MP cameras (front and rear), but they have different sizes, as the A3 sports a 4.7-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels, while the A5 offers a 5.2-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels. The Galaxy A3 is powered by a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, further featuring 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 2300 mAh battery. The Galaxy A5 is more powerful, coming with an octa-core 1.6 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of expandable storage space, and a 2900 mAh battery.
Right now, we don't know if the new Samsung Galaxy A series will be released in North America, but we're probably going to find out soon.
