Rumor: HTC's first smartwatch (One Wear?) may rival Motorola's Moto 360

Rumor: HTC's first smartwatch (One Wear?) may rival Motorola's Moto 360
HTC’s execs have been talking about wearables for quite a while now, and we know that the company is planning to release its first such products later this year. One of them could be a smartwatch, and it seems that HTC is already showing off demos of it in Taiwan (the company’s home country).

According to TK Tech News, the first HTC smartwatch is tentatively called One Wear, and could be released in late August, or early September. It’s said that this alleged HTC One Wear has a round design “much like the Moto 360.” HTC may offer the device in two variants - metal and polycarbonate - thus doing what Samsung is doing with its Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo.

While the details mentioned above can’t be confirmed yet, we’re almost certain of one thing: the HTC smartwatch will run Google’s new Android Wear, which was announced in March (when HTC was mentioned among Google’s Android Wear partners, alongside Motorola, Samsung and LG). Well, let’s hope we’ll have more info on this soon.

P.S.: the watch seen above isn’t an HTC product, it’s a generic watch used by Google in its Android Wear promo video.

It's definitely not a waste. It makes it taller than other phones, but it's well worth it.

Not everyone needs uses a speaker on a phone extensively. I for e.g. only use it when my phone rings, otherwise I use my earphones. So for me have bigger bezels because of better phone ring is pretty ridiculous really.

I don't know how a phone being taller affects everyday usage, i can keep a 7" tablet on my pocket without problems and for one handed use the most important is width and thickness.

1. Not all trousers/denims,etc are meant to hold 7" tablets. Add to that the difficulty it posses when jogging as there is a chance of falling out as it may barely fit in your pocket. 2. 'one handed use the most important is width and thickness' A taller phone makes it difficult to reach notification bar and hit home button without adjusting your phone.

I wouldn't say it's ridiculous, I use my speakers quite often. And the bezels don't really affect you that much cause they're on the top and bottom not the sides

I rarely even use the speakers but for those that do it could be nice. If you dont then it's def a waste of space and added weight to an already heavy device.

if they remove the stupid black bar in the bottom that include the htc logo and make a real camera not that bad ultra-pixel the htc one will be the best phone this year with the lg g3

Yeah I agree, I hate the black bar and the camera is too washed out. I prefer the G3 its amazing

There is nothing really innovative about that phone. it will not win and shouldn't have won last time either lol. G3 is nice but im looking at the Note 4, the King, the Lion.

Yeah I agree it's not a special phone but the G3 on the other hand is beautiful

I would imagine HTC's smartwatch hardware to rival the best.

This seems like pre iPhone and pre-iPad all over again. Companies are trying to guess what Apple will be doing, with hopes that they’re getting it right. Apple arrives. The other companies don’t stick to their original plan, but instead, do a 180 and become imitations of their competition. The technology world is a joke.

I think you give Apple too much credit here, each is trying to figure out what consumers want, not what Apple is going to do. Wearable tech is still fairly new so each OEM is trying to hit a determined target, regardless of what Apple might be working on.

I think you wouldn't give Apple any credit for anything so your opinion just remains well, your opinion. We've seen this before and a lot of people can choose to stick their heads in the sand in denial but let's face it, a lot of people are waiting on seeing what Apple brings out to the table. Heck, this whole smartwatch thing is started off of rumors surrounding Apple's own smartwatch last year.

"Delusional" does that mean anything now that it didn't used to? Again you're excused.

That's where you're totally wrong, I don't have any problems giving credit where credit is due. If you follow my comments, you'd know that. Of course a lot of people are waiting to see what Apple brings to the table. OEMs are waiting because it's competition, not because they are waiting to copy whatever Apple does. And the wearable tech didn't start over rumors of Apple making one. Sad people like you think the entire world revolves around Apple, but hey, if that makes you sleep at night, so be it.

Lol....you're a joke.. Everyone knows that all OEM's are to imitate moto 360 with their smartwatch now....where does apple comes in between....

Uumm No. All OEMs are using Android Wear inculding the 360. How is everyone imitating the 360 exactly. Last I checked the LG watch was square and Samsung uses its own OS. You discreditted yourself there.

A good example is Steve jobs didn't want iPhones to be more then 3.5 inches yet they made 4" and now 4.7", releasing cheaper versions of their flagships,

I hope they made it better than 360 in terms of design. Having a round design is innovation indeed, but imho the 360 is too plain, it looks like my grandpa watch.
