Report: Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 could share its unveiling date with the Apple iPhone 8
Last week, we showed you a video made by the designer of the Xiaomi Mi MIX and the Mi MIX 2, Philippe Starck. The concept video showed a phone with very thin side-bezels and minuscule top and bottom bezels. Even though the device in the video is a concept, it very well could be giving us an advance look at the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. After all, when the person behind a concept is the official designer of the real phone (and its predecessor) you have to take that concept more seriously.

Earlier this week, a report out of China claimed that the MIX 2 had received its necessary China Compulsory Certification‎ (CCC or 3C), which could mean that the handset is closing in on an official introduction. And the latest rumor being discussed around water coolers throughout China is that Xiaomi will unveil the Mi MIX 2 on September 12th. If that date sounds familiar, it's because that is the same day that Apple is rumored to be introducing the 2017 iPhone line.

Frankly, we can't see Xiaomi taking a chance on having media coverage of the MIX 2 wiped out by Apple's introduction of the tenth anniversary iPhone. Don't be surprised if the actual unveiling of the MIX 2 comes before the introduction of the new iPhone models. This would guarantee the fullest exposure of Xiaomi's latest MIX handset on the day it is announced.

Xiaomi Mi MIX was one of the sleekest phones at its release. If I'd pick between a free MIX and an iPhone, I'd rather get the MIX.

It would be bad timing on Xiaomi's part because it would be completely overwhelmed by the iPhone coverage in the media for the next few weeks. Do it a month later.

If I was to choose between the iPhone 8 and my last kidney, I'd choose the iPhone 8.

Something, no Chinese OEM thought before. They are indeed winning over Oppo-Vivo. Lol

If it turns out to look like that promo image, Mi Mix will make iphone 8 look like an early draft prototype. So much sleeker. They need to improve that camera tho.

Honestly apple is mostly irrelevant in Chinese market so I don't see an issue here. Even in the second largest smartphone market in the world, Xiaomi is a top dog and Apple is struggling. India and China are the target markets where Xiaomi is bigger than Apple.

I'm from india , and here Xiaomi only sells low end and mid range handsets. nothing priced above 200$ sof xiaomi sells in India. India is very divided that way. The people who have money are very very brand conscious.
