Report: LG will be the largest supplier of displays for the Apple iPhone 6
Beating out Samsung, Sharp and Japan Display, LG will be the main provider of displays for the Apple iPhone 6, according to a new report. A previous dispatch had Apple completely turning away Samsung and Sharp in favor of LG, Japan Display and Innolux. It is unclear whether LG's dominance in providing Apple with displays will cover both the 4.7 inch Apple iPhone 6 and the rumored 5.5 inch Apple iPhone 6L.

To counter the explosion in the screen sizes of Android phones, Apple is expected to increase the size of its flagship model to 4.7 inches from the current 4 inches on the Apple iPhone 5s. From the original model through the Apple iPhone 4s, Cupertino always provided its customers with a 3.5 inch screen, a size pronounced by Steve Jobs as being optimal for one-handed use.

Over the years, Android screens grew in size to as large as the 6.4 inch display used on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. The 5 inch screen, which used to be considered humungous, is now employed on handsets given a "mini" title. Apple is hoping that by offering larger screens on its new iPhone models, it can eat into the 85% market share that Android flavored smartphones earned globally, in the second quarter of the year.

Thanks for the tip!
