The Galaxy S27 launch is getting closer, and with it, pricing rumors are gaining momentum. While earlier leaks suggested there may be a light at the end of the pricing tunnel (for some models and storage configurations), a fresh leak points in a different direction.
Time to prepare for a pricier Galaxy S27

While the source doesn't explicitly mention which devices will "suffer the most" as well as whether the hike will be limited to higher storage variants, it does give us a ballpark figure for what to expect.
Reportedly, the South Korean tech giant is considering an increase between 100,000 and 130,000 won, roughly equivalent to $75-$100. If true, this could be particularly concerning, given that Samsung raised the asking price of the Galaxy S26 models a few weeks ago, bumping the MSRP by $100.
How do you think Samsung should justify a price hike?

Apple did a similar stunt

While Samsung's price hike on existing models months after launch may have stung fans, the South Korean tech giant wasn't alone. Apple did a similar stunt, too.
In May 2026, it broke tradition by introducing a $100 hike on various tech, including the then-latest iPhone 17 models. Then, in September, the iPhone 18 Pro series debuted with another $100 hike.

Don't get me wrong: the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max deliver impressive upgrades that, at least to me, are well worth the extra cost. I'm just saying Samsung isn't alone in this, as even the world's biggest tech giant is feeling the pressure to counter the RAMpocalypse.
By the way, if you're already concerned about the Galaxy S27 Ultra cost, you could save yourself some money by picking up the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung's current flagship with a built-in Privacy Display is available with a $300 discount at Amazon and the Samsung Store.
Galaxy S26 Ultra: $300 off at Amazon
$300 off (19%)
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is currently going for $300 less than usual at Amazon. The 512GB model is under $1,300 right now, making it a much easier choice for flagship Samsung buyers.
If you'd rather buy the Galaxy S26 Ultra at Samsung, know that the official store matches Amazon's discount. That means you can save $300 on the model in all storage configurations.
If The Chosun Daily's price hike rumor materializes, we can expect the Galaxy S27 to start at $1,099, while the Galaxy S27 Ultra might debut at $1,499.99.
While Samsung might be able to improve the Ultra model enough for users not to feel the sting of the hike, the same might not be true for the "vanilla" flagship and the Galaxy S27+. For now, these models are rumored to come with some incremental upgrades, which may leave fans wondering what they're actually getting for that extra $100.
Let's see how things unfold
If I have to be completely honest, I don't expect every model and every storage configuration to receive the same price hike. I'm not saying Chosun Daily's rumor is entirely inaccurate, but to me, a more "selective" approach could be applied.
Perhaps the Galaxy S27 series will cost more in higher storage configurations, while the base models could match the price of the Galaxy S26 (after the increase). Either way, we'll likely get more specific pricing details once we get closer to launch.
