OnePlus 3 receives OxygenOS 3.5.5 Open Beta 7 update, it's not Android 7.0 Nougat
OnePlus promised to bring its most recent flagship smartphones to Android 7.0 Nougat by the end of this year, so there's a high chance that a beta version will be released in November.

Considering that the OnePlus 3T will hit shelves in the United States on November 22 and in Europe less than one week later, on November 28, the phone is on track to receive the beta build based on Android 7.0 Nougat.

Until then, OnePlus released yet another open beta build for the OnePlus 3. If you've been testing any of the previous OxygenOS beta builds, then you will get version 7 as OTA (over the air) update.

This isn't the highly-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat, but it brings some new features and improvements nonetheless. Among the most important additions is the October security patch, but also an audio tuner, which can be found in the Settings / Sound / Audio settings.

OnePlus also added a background app freezing mechanism and has redesigned the accent color and the clock UI. Some general bug fixes have been implemented as well, along with certain issues.

For example, OnePlus notes that it has fixed the black screen issue when exiting games in horizontal orientation. Moreover, some crashes related to the launcher have been addressed too. The update should also increase system stability.

The update is now rolled out globally in stages, so it will probably reach all OnePlus 3 devices in the next couple of days. Here is hoping that the first OxygenOS beta build based on Android 7.0 Nougat will be released sooner rather than later.
