Nokia's HERE navigation apps unveiled for non-Lumia phones, too, add My Commute feature

Nokia's HERE navigation apps unveiled for non-Lumia phones, too, add My Commute feature
Nokia just took to the airwaves announcing what everyone's been expecting since it went the Windows Phone way - that its excellent HERE suite of offline navigation apps will be available for non-Lumia WP devices as well.

This way, if you happen to have an HTC 8X or Samsung ATIV S handsets, you will be able to download the HERE Drive, HERE Drive+ and HERE Transit apps, along with the new Traffic info and My Commute features from the Windows Store. The novel features will look at the time in the morning and warn you that you might be late for your regular commute to work unless you head out immediately, due to some heavy traffic ahead, and the info can be taken out on a double Live Tile at the home screen, if needed.

Owners of other Windows Phones in certain countries will be able to use regional navigation for free, and pay just the upgrade for the global navigation licence, while in other countries the full global pack has to be bought, as per the pricing scheme below. The apps will be available for download by the end of this week.

This idea of offline navigation is quite good. They just need to polish Bing Maps a bit more cos there are still a lot of inaccuracies.

bad move. It has distinguish Nokia´s phones from others windows´ devices and make it more exclusive and a wiser choice. Now, samsung fanboys will be elated that finally they´ve got a reliable nav solution even though they were whining that google maps was better and Nokia´s solution is half-baked, bad, etc. Change one´s tune as always. Here you go Nokia haters. They giving their best

Nokia is never going to give it's best 'feature' to others, in my opinion that is the camera... Greetzz.

Nokia is ready to give out this app to other vendors, but it is totally partial toward its own customers who helped them to build windows market. This is still not available for lumia first generation phone. seems complete affect of MS. As MS too has a better version on Skype in non-windows phone.
