Interesting Nokia 7 Plus (with tall 18:9 screen) and Nokia 1 leak out
Having sold more than 4 million smartphones in the last quarter of 2017, HMD Global (maker of Nokia-branded handsets) is certainly in a good position to release new phone models throughout 2018.

Not long ago, we heard that a Nokia 7 Plus and a Nokia 1 should be launched sometime this year. HMD hasn't confirmed their existence, but we can now take a pretty good look at both these upcoming devices - thanks to photos revealed by Evan Blass (aka @evleaks).

The Nokia 7 Plus (or Nokia 7+) is quite an interesting device, and seems to be the first Nokia-branded smartphone to sport a screen with rounded corners. According to previous rumors, this screen is a 6-inch one with a modern 18:9 aspect ratio (its pixel resolution isn't known). The handset should also feature a not-too-bad Snapdragon 660 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of internal memory. Oh, and there's a standard 3.5mm headset jack at the top, too.

On the back, the Nokia 7 Plus hosts a dual Zeiss-branded camera, a fingerprint scanner, and an Android One logo - this means the phone will run stock Android (Android 8 Oreo for the beginning), with timely updates for at least 2 years after launch.

As for the Nokia 1, this is a low-end smartphone, and its design certainly reflects that. The handset is supposed to offer features like a 720 x 1280 pixels screen, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal memory. The Nokia 1 should run Android Go Edition - a lightweight version of Android specifically developed by Google for entry-level phones.

Both the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 1 could be officially announced at MWC 2018, possibly alongside a high-end Nokia 9. We'll be there

It is! I would and will buy one in a heartbeat. Hopefully it's released as an unlocked version in the US like the Nokia 6. Hopefully it's around $400-$450.

Yup, that'd be nice. Unlike the 6, there was no North American release for the regular Nokia 7, so I'm not holding my breath thinking this plus model will be released here either. Just have to wait for that HMD Global press release to be sure.

I think the Nokia 7 Plus was made specifically for markets the 7 wasn’t available in, like the US. Let me see if I can find the info.

I hope so.

I'd be nice if they made the whole 1-10 lineup available here. Then there'd be a Nokia option for anyone's wants or budget needs. But that idea's over reaching.

Right. Got my fingers crossed though. I love Nokia. I remember I had the Nokia 6103 and the Nokia 5310 from T-Mobile. Nokia was one of my favorite brands, till they had the hibernation period here in the US.

Nice. I was a fan of their Lumia line. Windows OS, but still that solid Nokia build. My current Lumia 650 still has some of that Nokia design language although with Microsoft Branding.

I wanted to dabble in the Lumia line, but I wasn't too sure if I wanted to dabble with the mobile Windows Phone line. Lack of apps held me back.

You and me both! And I think the 7 Plus was made to be a global handset. The sweet spot would be what you said, no more than $400-$450.

That would be so perfect. The US loves Nokia. There's no reason why they shouldn't try to enter back into the US, small, but strong.

I'm hoping that since it's leaked as an Android One, and Project Fi has the Moto x4 Android One version (USA), that that means it will in fact come to the US.

It might not be the best looking phone, but it's different, and in a good way.

Nokia 7 plus is stunning. I wish they reduce the top and bottom bezels a bit for their next phone.

Reduce that camera hump. It's 2018 for crying out loud. The 7 does look pretty sharp though I agree the bezels need to be shaved down.

It's beautifully refreshing! Definitely a solid upper midranger.

Am I the only want that noticed it or am I getting cross-eyed already? Image 2 for Nokia 7+ shows a glare o the size bezels that gives a hint that it might sport edge curves as well. Eitherways, this is a gorgeous phone.

Interesting that Nokia 7 Plus will be part of the Android One program. It should bother the Xiaomi Mi A1.
