Motorola prepping new DROID with larger screen for Q4 delivery
Last October, we passed along some speculation regarding Motorola. At the time, there was talk of a sequel to the Motorola DROID Ultra that was called the DROID Quantum, but this handset never materialized. Now, according to a tipster with a history of providing accurate information about Motorola, the Lenovo-owned company is working on a new DROID model for a fourth quarter release. The phone will use the next generation of Kevlar material, and will feature a larger screen ratio. That means that the glass on the handset will cover a larger portion of the front of the device.

There are a couple of ways that this can be accomplished. One way, obviously, is to increase the size of the screen. Another way would be for Motorola to reduce the size of the bezels on the phone. Most manufacturers are doing both with their high-end models. With the larger screen ratio rumored for the device, we wonder if this will end up being the recently rumored 6.3 inch phablet that Motorola is supposedly working on.

While the tipster didn't have any other information to pass along, we would assume that Verizon customers will remain the beneficiaries of Motorola's hard work. The name of the device is up in the air, but we think that a Motorola DROID Quantum would sound just fine.

Thanks for the tip, Vlad!
