After being available through Sprint for almost a year now, the rugged oriented Motorola Brute i680 is finally seeing a much needed upgrade in the form of a newer model.

Starting today, Sprint customers can fetch the Motorola Brute i686 which follows in similar fashion to the original i680 model with its rugged set of features, but provides some much needed protection against submersion. Specifically, the handset can withstand being submerged in up to 1 meter of water for approximately 30 minutes and still live to tell the tale. Moreover, the Motorola Brute i686 features Military Spec standard 810G – which means it's made to withstand vibration, extreme temperatures, low pressure, humidity, salt, fog, and solar radiation.
