Microsoft updates Office for Android, adds SVG image support

Microsoft has silently updated its Office suite for Android devices with the ability to edit SVG images right from within these apps. One of the requested features in the past, SVG images support is now making its way into all three Office apps: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

According to the official changelog, Office users can now take advantage of SVG image editing features in either of the three apps. They can now insert and edit scalable vector graphic (SVG) images in Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents in order to create better looking content.

The new feature doesn't require any in-depth knowledge on image editing, you can just insert the SVG image you want and start editing.

The update has gone live in the Google Play for all three apps. No other changes have been mentioned by Microsoft, so we must assume this is the only new feature included in the update.

Since Word, Excel and PowerPoint are now pre-installed on the vast majority of Android devices, you can just go ahead and check for the update in the Google Play store. If for some reason you don't have the Office suite on your Android device, then you can download it for free.
