Microsoft launches Cortana in the UK with refreshed design, performance improvements

Microsoft's personal digital assistant, Cortana was initially launched in the United States, but then the Redmond-based company brought it to a few more countries. Beginning today, users in the UK will be able to benefit from the features offered by Microsoft's AI.

The Cortana Android and iOS apps are now available for download in the UK. Those who haven't tried Microsoft's personal digital assistant might want to give Cortana a try since it comes for free.

The AI allows users to set reminders to keep track of the thing they need to remember across all the platforms they use. Basically, once you set a reminder on the PC, it will show up on the phone as well.

Cortana can also send messages for you from your Windows 10 PC in case you're in a meeting and can't answer the phone. Obviously, both Android and iOS apps have been specifically designed to work flawlessly on mobile devices.

Both apps allows you to use Cortana to find information by speaking to it. Simply say “Hey Cortana” (not available on iOS) to activate the digital personal assistant and ask her what you want to know.

According to Microsoft, the Cortana Android application will be available for download beginning this week, while the Cortana iOS app will be coming to the App Store in a few weeks.

Aside from the fact that it's been launched in the UK, the apps have been redesigned to offer a more simplified look and feel.

Microsoft also made some improvements to the answers provided by Cortana, so you will now be able to get all the information in a full page.

Lastly, the developers confirmed that they have made some under the hood changes as well, so the apps should now be faster.
