Logo on Apple iPhone 6 not expected to double as notification light after all
Last month, we passed along a rumor that the Apple logo on the back of the Apple iPhone 6, would light up as a notification light. One variation of this rumor has the apple lighting up in different colors, with each shade representing a particular type of message. As cool as that might look, it would appear that the Apple logo on the back of the iPhone 6 will not glow, light up, or do anything outside of just sitting on the back of the iPhone.

So where is the proof that the Apple logo on the back of the iPhone 6 isn't anything more than a logo design? A picture out of Taiwan shows a number of Apple logos in a tray, supposedly getting ready to be affixed to the iPhone 6. There are no signs that the logo is designed to light up.

The 4.7 inch Apple iPhone 6 is expected to be unveiled on September 9th during a special Apple event. The actual launch could take place the following month.

Thanks for the tip!

.....No this was one of the more possible rumors (and cooler too), so it isn't that much of a no-brainer. Besides that I believe we are at the inflection point in rumors now where everything they dreamed of slowly gets shot down until they settle for what Apple releases and then begin their prayers and rituals for the year after.

Because aside from the possibility of some drunken Apple employee dropping his phone in a bar, Apple is pretty good about keeping things hush hush, so all the Apple fans cling to every rumor they hear.

"zombie, where do you think these "rumours" come from... *insert Homer Simpson dooah meme" Exactly. Some people haven't put two and two together and figured out nearly all "rumors" come from backchannel PR from the device vendors themselves.

They're good about keeping things hush hush except for the picture in the article and the dozens of other photos before it. I mean, who would have guessed the 5S would have a finger print scanner until Tim Cook announced it?

"I mean, who would have guessed the 5S would have a finger print scanner until Tim Cook announced it?" Pretty much everyone who knew about their deal to acquire Authentec. Not everyone connected the dots, but the dots were there.

Not really considering that the mockup units for the iPhone six have been out for months before the phone even been released

It will be more useful if Apple logo is a NFC tag. And also, wireless charging !!!!

They should go the same route as Motorola on the Moto X and have an active display with just specific pixels on the display lighting up to identify the type of notification.

To make up for Apple not putting an LED notification light on their phones which would (a) not take much battery and (b) help many of their customers know there is something important they need to look at, but (c) cost Apple a few cents per unit. So obviously Tim Cook vetoed an LED notification light because it would cost Apple a few pennies per unit. He is an accountant, after all. The idea that a relatively expensive giant notification logo would be added instead of a cheap LED is laughable. There is literally nothing in an iPhone that costs Apple very much. Maybe that will change with the sapphire screen (if it happens).

Apple logo is the selling point. Make it 3 times bigger at least.

I guess that was to be expected... Apple really should have some sort of notification light though seeing as how so many people with iPhones are resorting to using the camera flash as a notification light (despite it being considered impractical since it's on the back). Apple should really have a light ring around the home button or near the ear piece like Motorola's Droid Razr Maxx hd/ sony's xperia line.
