LG will select 4,000 customers to test drive the G4 flagship smartphone before its launch
LG just announced that, "as part of its most ambitious smartphone introduction yet", it's going to allow 4,000 customers to test drive the upcoming G4 flagship smartphone weeks before it becomes available to buy. The program debuts today in South Korea (it's already April 8 there), and will also be available to consumers in other 14 markets: Canada, China, Brazil, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, Turkey, United Kingdom, and United States.

LG says that it's going to select participants "based on their entry responses" on the company's local websites and social media sites. More details on how to apply will be shared in the coming days via said websites.

Each of the 4,000 consumers that LG selects will receive a G4 "for up to 30 days." Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they'll be able to keep the smartphone, but LG says that, following "various assignments", participants will have the chance to win unspecified prizes.

The LG G4 will be officially announced on April 28, but it's not clear exactly when it's going to be released. The handset will certainly feature a 5.5-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixels, a rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, and a new LG UX 4.0 interface on top of Android Lollipop. Other (unconfirmed) features could include a Snapdragon 810 or 808 processor, and 3 GB of RAM.

4000 imo is a bit much though. 10x less than that should more than suffice because that's at best the most you can get as proper testers anyways. That said good luck to all applicants and do your s**t right G4 fans.

Probably their priority there are skewed more towards the OS/fw/sw side, as LG's track record of follow up updates' rollout times isn't very good w/o this sort of a public beta currently. At least this gives them 1 less excuse..
