Honor 8X specs revealed to include 6.5-inch display, 20 + 2MP rear cameras
Fast-growing Huawei sub-brand Honor has sure been keeping busy lately, expanding a budget-friendly gaming smartphone from China to the old continent, preparing a “magical” flagship with a few gorgeous design elements, and perhaps most importantly, setting the stage for the formal announcement of the 8X and 8X Max later this week.
The Honor 7X is still one of the best ultra-affordable unlocked handsets officially available stateside, so we’re dying to see what the next generation brings to the table. Luckily, there’s very little left to the imagination now that the (slightly) smaller version has also paid China’s FCC-equivalent Tenaa agency its obligatory certification visit.
We have a full spec sheet attached to the JSN-AL00 model number, although oddly enough, there are no product images accompanying the regulatory approval. At least not yet.
Of course, odds are the 6.5-inch Honor 8X will bear a strong resemblance to the 7.12-inch 8X Max, wide aspect ratio, tiny screen notch and all. At 175 grams, the 8X should be substantially easier to hold than its 210-gram big brother, but obviously, that also entails a significant battery capacity downgrade, from 4,900 to 3,650 mAh.
The Honor 8X will nonetheless gain a little bit of juice compared to its 5.9-inch predecessor, while growing (slightly) in overall height, width and depth, to 160.4 x 76.6 x 7.8 mm.
Interestingly, it appears the “regular” 8X will trump the Max variant in imaging skills, featuring dual 20 + 2MP rear-facing shooters and a single 16MP selfie camera. You can expect 4 and 6GB RAM configurations, with 64 and 128GB internal storage space also on deck, while (EMUI-skinned) Android 8.1 Oreo will unsurprisingly run the software show.
The only unconfirmed tidbit is the make and model of a chipset listed with a CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz, which could really only be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 or Huawei’s own Kirin 710.
