Honor 6x to receive Nougat and EMUI 5 in March
At CES 2017, Huawei's Honor division unveiled the Honor 6x. If you look at its spec sheet, it's a decent phone that has some pretty darn good specs for its price point. The downside, however, was that it launched with Android Marshmallow and EMUI 4.1, both outdated software. Many found this unacceptable, considering when the phone was announced. To give Honor the benefit of the doubt, though, most Android handsets are still on Marshmallow. As of January 9th, only 0.7% of Android devices were running Nougat.

During CES, Honor said the Honor 6x would receive an update to both Android Nougat and EMUI 5 in Q2 of 2017. That time frame is as vague as Time Warner's technician appointment schedules. Thankfully, Huawei said in an email today that the Honor 6x would receive these updates in March — just a month away. This release schedule should excite many 6x users, considering it's actually a quarter ahead of their originally planned schedule.

While the phone is not without its hardware faults, Android Nougat and EMUI 5 will certainly make the Honor 6x a much more worthwhile purchase at $249.
