Thanks to some new information found during an APK teardown of the latest Google app (version 7.10), we now know that the "Bistro" reference found on Google 7.0 last April has to do with a new pair of headphones that will natively run Google Assistant. Strings found during the breakdown include one that gives a rundown about this new accessory. The first string says, "Your headphones have the Google Assistant. Ask it questions. Tell it to do things. It’s your own personal Google, always ready to help."

Users' will be able to hear their search queries answered through the headphones along with their notifications. At the same time, verbal responses to notifications can be made through the headphones. There will be a Google Assistant button and another one called the "top button. One of the strings discovered gives the following directions: "To hear them, press the Google Assistant button. Press the Google Assistant button. To hear them, press and hold the top button. Press and hold the top button."

Another string details the setup process: "Your headphones won’t be available for a few minutes. Try restarting your headphones. To troubleshoot, visit the Help Center. Can’t update headphones. Bisto firmware update New features and fixes are available. Your headphones have been updated and are ready to use."

We expect to see the Google Assistant headphones (Bistro) unveiled at the same time as the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The most obvious months for the unveiling would be September or October.
