Galaxy Note 4 gets November 2016 security update at T-Mobile

Despite the fact that both Google and Samsung have released this month's Android security patch for some of their smartphones, there are still many devices that are getting the last month's update.

The Galaxy Note 4 is one those devices that's getting the November security patch, but only at T-Mobile. The Un-carrier usually releases this type of updates for both the Note 4 and Note edge, so there's a high chance that the latter is eligible for the November security update as well.

Since T-Mobile hasn't yet updated the phone's support page, it's hard to tell what other features or improvements have been added (if any). We do know that the update weighs in at about 60MB in size and that it should add improvements to RCS messaging, VoLTE and Smart Manager.

After the update, the Galaxy Note 4 will remain at Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, so don't get your hope too high. Samsung is expected to deliver the highly-anticipated Android Nougat update to the Galaxy Note 4 sometime next year.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will be the first to receive the update, possibly followed by the Note 5 and Galaxy Tab S2. Obviously, unlocked versions of these device will be the first to get the update followed by carrier-branded ones.

Until then, if you own the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 or Note edge, it's worth checking whether or not the November security update is available for download.
