Deal: ZTE Axon 7 Mini is nearly half price ($170) at Newegg

ZTE Axon 7 Mini is a pure mid-range Android smartphone that's not even a year old but already costs half its original price. If you're not yet convinced that the Axon 7 Mini is one of the best deals if you're looking for a mid-end handset, then you'll want to know ZTE plans to update it to Android 7.0 Nougat very soon.

Although the Axon 7 Mini was launched in the U.S. last year for $300, it soon got discounted to just $200. However, Newegg offers an even better deal to those who'd buy such a phone.

For a limited time (read until Thursday night), the Axon 7 Mini costs just $169.98 at Newegg, which means you'll be saving around $130 when purchasing the phone. Keep in mind though that in order to take advantage of the offer, you'll have to apply the EMCSRFDR6 code at checkout.

The smartphone is available unlocked, but it will not support CDMA-based carriers. So, you can use it on AT&T, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket and other GSM networks, but you won't be able to use it on Sprint and Verizon.

Well, it's 24 hours later and Newegg is sold out of them. I guess I can expect to see all of those units marked up on eBay. I'm sure those sellers will ship to anyone, anywhere.

And you might say hate is a strong word, but these shipping restrictions have been in place since the phone was released. So every good deal that has come up on it, Canadians have not been allowed to take advantage. Same goes for the regular Axon 7. It has gone on sale multiple times in the US, but once again, shipping restrictions to Canada.

I f**king hate ZTE. Decent phone at a great price, but do you think me as a Canadian can buy one? No! ZTE has given exclusive rights for sale of this phone to Virgin Mobile Canada, and so they've established shipping restrictions at Newegg US and B&H, so that Canadians cannot buy from there, only from Virgin Mobile locked and with a contract. I would buy one right now, but ZTE is making that really difficult. Maybe they don't want my business.
