China Telecom to get iPhone 4S in February
China Telecom is getting the iPhone 4S in February, marking an important milestone in Appe’s expansion to the world’s largest country by population. China Telecom is the third largest carrier in China, and it’s also the third across the globe to get a CDMA version of the iPhone 4S, a report by China Daily quotes a statement by the carrier released earlier in the week.

The carrier said it’s kicking off “preparatory work” for Apple’s hugely popular 4S. China Telecom has started speaking about getting the device back last year when the first CDMA version arrived on Verizon Wireless, but operating licenses seem to have held off the launch.

There are no details yet about the pricing of the iPhone 4S on China Telecom and this could turn out to be a particularly interesting topic if the new carrier undercuts China Unicom, which is currently the only operator that offers it officially in China.

The launch will be beneficial to Apple as well. The company currently ranks as the fourth biggest smartphone maker on the Chinese market after Nokia, Samsung and Huawei.

The launch of the iPhone 4S on China Telecom falls in line with a recent Morgan Stanley report suggesting that two carriers, China Telecom and China Mobile, are to get the iPhone 4S. This, th report suggested, would elevate iPhone sales to 40 million in China in 2013.
