Buy the unlocked BlackBerry Passport for half price; BB10 powered handset is just $249
The conditions of the deal/s may have changed since the initial publishing of this post.
If you miss having a BlackBerry handset that actually runs BlackBerry 10 instead of Android, you can now pick up the unlocked BlackBerry Passport at half price. At BlackBerry's online store, the Passport is now priced at $249. That is $250 off of the $499 that the company previously charged for the phone.
The Passport model being offered at half price is available in black only. To refresh your memory, the handset carries a 4.5-inch LCD display with a 1440 x 1440 resolution. The Snapdragon 801 chipset is under the hood, equipped with a quad-core 2.2GHz CPU and the Adreno 330 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of internal storage (of which 25GB is available to the user). A 128GB capacity microSD slot is available for those seeking additional storage. The Passport supports the use of Android apps listed in the pre-loaded Amazon Appstore.
Also on sale is the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition. The new price for this version of the phone is $299, a 46% price cut from the $549 that the phone was selling for. This model has rounded corners on the bottom to allow for better handling of the unit. The diamond pattern added to the back of the handset provides a better grip. And some improvements to the physical keyboard were made to improve the typing experience.
BlackBerry tells us that this pricing will stick until the two Passport models are out of stock. Considering that we might never see a new BlackBerry 10 powered phone again, you might want to take advantage of the current pricing. After all, this is the holiday shopping season. The 13MP rear-facing camera has an aperture of f/2.0 and features OIS to prevent your coffee dependency from being outed every time you shoot a video. A 2MP front-facing camera snaps selfies and handles video chats. Keeping the phone powered up is a 3450mAh battery, and BlackBerry 10.3 is pre-installed. If you live in the states, keep in mind that the phone will work on AT&T and T-Mobile, not Sprint or Verizon.
