BLU R1 HD receives new update that adds T-Mobile VoLTE and band 12 support

Despite the fact that recent reports claim some BLU smartphones have pre-insalled backdoor that sends data to Chinese servers, the US-based company is very popular among Android users thanks to its really cheap devices.

The BLU R1 HD is one such device, and those purchased it can confirm that it does its job as a daily driver. The smartphone made its debut in the United States several months ago, but it lacked support for certain bands.

Even though BLU clarified the issue and promised to bring support for band 12 as soon as possible, it looks like it took the company almost five months to deliver.

But, as the saying goes, better late than never. Starting this week, BLU begun rolling out a new update that adds the promised band 12 support. On top of that, the update also introduces VoLTE support for those who want to take advantage of this feature.

BLU R1 HD owners will be pleased to know that the update also includes some Android security patches, though we're not certain if BLU added the October or November security updates.

The update is rolled out OTA (over the air) in waves, so make sure you check from time to time it's not available for you right away. It's worth noting that this is a fairly sizable update at 372MB, so make sure you have enough storage and battery before applying the update.
