Apple iPhone 7 Plus to include version with 256GB of internal storage?; dual camera module surfaces
A rumor about the Apple iPhone 7 Plus that we told you about when this year was young, is now being repeated. Back in January, we passed along the rumor that the Apple iPhone 7 Plus would be available with as much as 256GB of internal storage inside. That would be double the amount on the highest capacity iPhone available today.

Today's rumor comes from a picture found on a Weibo account and re-tweeted by @OnLeaks. The picture re-tweeted contained the image of a dual camera module. This part is allegedly ticketed for the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Another image on the same photo reveals SanDisk NAND memory chips allegedly for the iPhone 7 Plus with 16GB, 64GB and 256GB of storage.

This is just the latest speculation about the cameras on the next iteration of the iPhone. Yesterday, we passed along the rumor that OIS will be a feature on both the Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Up to now, the optical stabilization feature was found on the iPhone Plus cameras only. In addition, it appears that LG and Sony will be sharing production of the camera modules for the next iPhone models.

Removing the 128 gig version, is just as bad, as removing the 32 gig version. If this is true, dick move Apple.

But why would you be surprised by this move? It would right up Apple's alley because they've done it before and their fans took it like champs and some even defended it. Regardless, it is nice to see Google showing amazing attempts like Ara while Apple is busy releasing a second camera and more storage.

Yup, you are entirely right as long as people keep accepting and buying those rather insane price differences for storage, with no external storage options.....then Apple is going to keep doing it.

It should have 64gb, 128gb, 256gb variants... but oops it's Apple. They always provoke their Customers to go for the upper variant...

As usual 100$ difference between 16 64 256GBs.. meanwhile 128 GB sd card costs 5-10dollars... :D Crazy apple s**t!!

How they can get away charging over $500 at this point for a smartphone with only 16GB of storage and no way to expand it is beyond me. At the very least, they should have set it as 32 for the base, and 128 & 256 for the upper models. It would be similar to what they did last year with it being 16/64/128, just bumping them ALL up a notch. I still think what they did last year sucked, but this is getting pathetic, and is nothing more than pure greed. I'd love to see how they rationalize this to their customers this time around, it was bad enough when they added 4K recording last year and still kept the 16GB option around. There really is no excuse this time, for as little as internal memory goes for, this seems like a genuine F.U. to their customers. Loosen the purse strings a bit Scrooge McDuck!

Sorry, that should be been over $600, not $500.

I agree darkk, make 32 gigs a new standard. Some people may use their phone for basic task like email or use it to replace their digital camera but 16 is obviously too small for anyone.

Even 32 is small for a phone that can shoot 4k with no expandable storage. 64 should be the smallest and I agree with dark, removing 128 is a doucebag marketing strategy.

Yeah, taking Way 128 is whack.

Yep, even 32 can be acceptable, but 16....nope.

It's only bad if they change the price. If the price stays the same as the 128GB option, then its an even better deal. $200 above the entry level for 256GB of smoking fast storage would be killer. As for having a 16GB option, that's just stupid. Let it die.

I think the reason people are angry is that having a 16GB base then skipping the next tier is a way of forcing people to go with a model with a higher storage amount. When they introduced 4K recording, there should've been no reason not to bump the base up to 32GB. To keep the 16GB this year as well and then chop out 2 tiers of storage (32 & 128) doesn't make any sense. Internal Storage doesn't cost that much, and for a company with Apple's wealth, there is no excuse not to simply increase the storage capacity across the board every year. By that I mean if the top tier is 256GB, then the lower tiers should be 64 & 128. Think of it as goodwill for their customers. I live in a less populated rural area, and my ISP brought fiber to our home. I asked about the speed tiers, and went with the one just below the base level. As they have progressed and increased their overall speed, they bump me up automatically. I started out with a 10MB tier, and am currently receiving 25MB. No bump in cost either. If a little telecom can do that, why can't a large company like Apple do the same for their customers?

The removed the 32gb and replaced it with the 64gb at the same price. How is that bad? Probably do the same with the 128-256gb.

It's not bad per say, but why not have both. If they keep the 128 gig price for the 256, that's awesome actually. Hopefully if they eliminate it for the 256, that's exactly what they do. We gotta wait till September.

With the 16GB they just want more people to use Apple Music, i cloud etc so they can make money off streaming.

And it will cost $999. No thanks. I will wait for the Note with the same for 899 and it will still offer more. I know both OEMs are gonna have an outrageous price. They should both just offer 64, 128 and 256. No more 16GB and 32GB. Keep the cost th3 same. 649 749 and 849. It costs them nothing extra foe stkrage. Am sure 16GB cost $4. The mostb256 cost is probably $25.

Here I got some more for you. Here is a site called DRAMexchange. If I am not mistaken, its an open market where OEM's can by memory and flash storage. This market cold contain chips from any manufacturer. Look at what the prices are: http://www.dramexchange.com/ As you can see in the list, 128GB of flash storage is only $4.60. So I can safely say, 256 is like less than $10.00. Remember Internal flash only cost pennies more than the ones they use in sdcards. Speeds of sdcards are hampered by the controller. With flash storage, the chips have more speed because of the BUS speed. I wish I had a photo for this deer in the headlight moment.

At 5.50 or less, yet Apple charges $100 for each increase, this is why they make mad profits. You guys are a joke. You never can provide an argument because you're to busy trolling. If you spent as much time looking up fast vs trolling, maybe you wouldn't be a stupid fanboi, but a real tech fan.
