Apple takes its online store down to prepare for Friday's iPhone and Apple Watch pre-orders
Just as it did before the "Gather round" event started Wednesday morning, Apple has taken down its online store tonight. This allows the company to prepare for what would appear to be a busy day for the site on Friday when pre-orders for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and Apple Watch Series 4 begin. Pre-orders for the iPhone XR (with a 6.1-inch LCD panel) will not take place until October 19th.

Apple traditionally has closed its online store prior to making new product introductions, and just before it starts accepting pre-orders. The site should be reopened before 12:01am PDT/3:01am EDT Friday, September 14th when consumers can make a paid reservation for a 2018 iPhone and/or an Apple Watch Series 4.

The pricing for the 2018 Apple iPhone models from Apple's online store is as follows:

Apple iPhone XS

  • 64GB-$999
  • 256GB-$1,149
  • 512GB-$1,349
  • Color options: Space Gray, Silver, Gold

Apple iPhone XS Max

  • 64GB-$1,099
  • 256GB-$1,249
  • 512GB-$1,449
  • Color options: Space Gray, Silver, Gold

  • 64GB-$749
  • 128GB-$799
  • 256GB-$899Color options: Blue, Yellow, Red, Black, White and Coral.

The Apple Watch Series 4 will come in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm. The GPS model starts at $399, and the GPS and Cellular version will be $499 and up. The Apple Watch Series 4 will launch on September 21st, along with the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
