T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge start receiving Android Nougat updates

If you own a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge, an official Android 7 Nougat update for your phone is just around the corner. T-Mobile Product Manager Des Smith today confirmed that the update should be available to both handsets "this week."

For now, the Nougat update for the S6 and S6 edge doesn't show up over at T-Mobile's support website. However, one of our readers (thanks, Arthur!) informed us that he received the update on his T-Mo Galaxy S6 earlier today.

Of course, since the week has just begun, it will probably take a while before all T-Mobile S6 and S6 edge users get to see the Nougat update on their device.

As in the case of T-Mobile's Galaxy S6 edge+, which received its Nougat update several weeks back, the S6 and S6 edge (pictured above) are likely getting Android 7.0 Nougat, not the newer 7.1 version.

Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge were released over two years ago, in March 2015, with Android 5.0 Lollipop on board. It's good to see that at least some Android phones are getting major updates even after 2 years from launch, isn't it?
