Alcatel unveils the OneTouch Pop Up and Pop Star: meet two colorful entry-level troopers


At IFA 2015, Alcatel OneTouch announced its new line of the devices - meet the Pop series. Currently, it consist of merely two devices, the Pop Up and the Pop Star, two new colorful entrants on the mid-range scene. One of the highlights of the the devices are the numerous removable and interchangeable covers that will be available for the two. 

The Pop Star, in particular, will be available in two different versions, a 3G and a 4G one, which are pretty different from one another in the hardware department. The 3G version of the phone ships with a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6580 chipset, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage and a microSD card slot, a 5" 720p display, 2000mAh battery. An 8MP camera can be found at the rear, whereas a 5MP selfie camera can be found on the front.

At the same time, the Pop Star is powered by a 1GHz quad-core 64-bit MediaTek chipset, the MT6735P. It also comes with 1GB RAM, 16GB storage and a microSD card slot, a 2000mAh battery. An 8MP camera can be found at the rear, whereas a 5MP selfie camera can be found on the front. Similar to the 3G-version, the 4G-enabled Pop Star comes with 2,000mAh battery at the back.

The POP UP is undoubtedly the most power-laden member of the new Pop family. Coming with an octa-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 610 chipset, the Pop Up also has 2GB of RAM. We also have a 5" 720p display up front. There are 16GB of storage that can be expanded with the aid of a microSD card; a 13MP rear-facing camera with F2.0 aperture can be found at the back, while a 5MP front camera takes care of your selfies. The phone will be available in a couple of colors: Black, Riva Blue, Amber Orange, White, and Strawberry Red.

It's also important to say that all of them are dual-SIM ones, yet only the 4G Pop Star and the Pop Up allow for dual standby.
