Avoid this phone

retepwal has owned it for more than one year before publishing this review

I bought this phone because it was the only touch screen pay-as-you-go option I had. I really dislike this phone.

There are some annoying problems: the phone drops more calls than it gets. It doesn't vibrate enough for me to feel it in my pocket. The QWERTY keyboard requires you to have fingernails to use it. The touch screen isn't very accurate. The phone's speaker isn't loud enough.

The most annoying feature has to be the lack of a usable lock. If you lock the phone and put it in your pocket, the slightest shift of the keyboard drawer will disengage the lock, allowing you to pocket dial. I've even ended up editing contacts from my pocket.

I've never used the internet plan, so I really can't comment on it, but I can't find a way to take the media (like pics off the phone) and do anything with them.

Build quality 3/10 The keyboard locking mechanism is a horrible flaw. It guarantees plentiful pocket-dialing.

Reception 3/10 In my experience this phone drops more calls than it gets.

Call quality 4/10 provided you actually got the call, things are fine, but that's a big caveat.

Internet 6/10

Multimedia 6/10 I've never used it, but there isn't an N/A option.

Camera 5/10 Why can't you take the pics from the camera and transfer them to a computer via USB?

UI speed 2/10 This UI makes no sense.

Everyday usage 3/10 not dependable.

Text input 4/10 The QWERTY keyboard is only useful if you have fingernails. Even though I'm using English as my desired language, if I type a double vowel, the program gives me a single vowel with a diacritic above it. WTF!

Display 5/10 The display is bright enough, but the touch elements of it aren't accurate, especially for a guy with sausage fingers like me.

Battery 8/10 The battery is fine. It doesn't give the 11 days on standby that it advertises, but they never do.

it internet speed is good but its videos sound is quite low .Does not connect to the computer ie. The device is not recognized even though a USB cable is provided.
No themes, got to get used to the two preinstalled themes .this phone doesn't come with a new sim card, a memory card and a stylus

im only 14 and this phone sucks the widgets are dumb and i have i wireless so no internet or wifi idk even how to get the wifi and the worst of all i have to keep it for 2 years and this is going to suck so bad i might cry lol but yea dont by this junk phone nothing to do on it except call and txt thats all .

Worst Phone

I bought this phone in Feb. 2010, for a couple of months it seemed working fine, except few issues like calling the numbers from recently dialed numbers again and again, getting unlocked itself etc.. But after one year there are vary major problems in this phone. Sometimes its key stops working, it restarts automatically even during a call and many other issues. So my suggestion would be never buy this phone.

I'm a msging freak.... & this phone is d best phone for msging freaks who want a touch phne.... Its stylish & a simple phone.... Dont buy this if u like to access internet.... no flash player so no youtube..!!! No flash for d camera... poor at bad light....

i love this phone,it's GERAT. I never had problems with it. My internet is very fast, keyboard is very handy and great for someone who likes to txt, i like FM radio ,Playlist, and other features. When i put music volume to maximum it's very loud and i really like that ! :D I hear all voices clear, and i think camera is OK,could be little better. I like it,it's best phone i had so far,it's great for trips,u can listen music very very long and take pictures and battery will last 3 days... But when i don't use it too much it can last 5-7 days,and i have it almost for a year :D I will reccomend this phone ! :)

AWESOME PHONE NO PROBS FOR ME EVA!!!!!!!!!!

No probs with it. All friends have it. I don't use the internet but others do and they love it!
Got one as a present that I finished the school year EXELENTALY and as an early xmas gift as well and i chose it and goes quickly so id ya want it, grab it quick!!!
Cheap and TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!!

Build quality 9/10 What's this? Well, it's pretty, helpful, useful phone and ya! wot else do ya want with all those widgets and extra bits and bobs!!!

Reception 10/10 Had a problem once but I was in that type of zone so couldn't text Mum to say i on bus and that's all! I did wait too long to send it and I was in the No-Reception Zone by then

Call quality 9/10 Voices nearly VERY CLEAR but other from the 'nearly' part, it works well

Internet 10/10 I don't use it, friends do and say iz awesome using the net on the go!

Multimedia 10/10 PERFECT AND AWESOME!!!

Camera 8/10 I always use camera i just want to zoom in etc and clip art so not sure if it's possible though

UI speed 10/10 Don't know what this thing is but e-thing awesome so give it a 10 anyway! :)

Everyday usage 10/10 I use it everyday HEAPS and it's perfect-o-ly for me!

Text input 10/10 Never had probs, interesting to use touch screen texting and QWERTY pad

Display 10/10 Well, what's bad about it? Nothing bad so all good!

Battery 10/10 Battery lasts 3-10 days (depends on how much you text and call i do LOTS so it'a very good) so bout 5-7 days for me. once 3 days though when everyone didn't bring phones and i did and they all used it coz i let them ;)

i still enjoy this phone have had it for almost a year. i dont have any problems with it. i have a lock on everything so i dont have the problem of pocket dialling.
it is small enough to carry anywhere. but still has a nice weight so you can know if the phone goes missing. love this phone.

my aunt game me this kind of phone, its actually good in appearance but the service is not satisfying, why? i cannot use the internet . the telecommunication do not know how to set the settings. the quality of the cam during night is not that good. its very disgusting...

Got this phone for my b-day lastyear and overall it's been really good . I dropped the phone a few times and I dropped it yesterday and it was fine it was still on and nothing happened to it but my battery was low and it turned off in a few minutes so i charged it and you know when your phone is off and you plug it in it says charging and a pic of a battery shows up? And you can turn it on with the left button? Mine didn't work and tried taking the battery out and putting it back in to turn it on unfortunately it still doesn't work but the screen still works when i plug the charger in this is just too weird what am I supposed to do and don't give me answers like go to the shop you got it to get it fixed!!!!!

what is wrong with mine?

i've had this phone for a year or so.. it was fantastic for a while but lately whenever i open or shut the keyboard, the screen goes completely white, sometimes for hours on end. i havent seen any other complaints of this happening though... is it just my phone?

This phone isn THAT bad!
The touch screen isnt that bad, sometimes you will press something and it wont register untill a few seconds later, and then you end up getting lost on it, and have to start over! But its very good, appart from if you want to type with the screen and not use the qwerty keyboard. Then your fingers keep pressing the delete button rather than the space button, but you have a qwerty keyboard so!
The qwerty keyboard is really handy, you can just slide it out and text away! but it is kinda small and cramped, and if you have big fingers, the you might want to look into a different phone. On the keyboard it is very easy to type long messages with ease, just like you would on a computer, only more compact.
The camera isnt the best of quality. The quality could be far better, but its only 2.0 mega pixels, but its fine to snap those moments when youve got no camera, but i would definatley not substitute your camera for the one on this samsung.
I think the internet on this phone is very poor. I wouldnt even recomend this phone for quick browsing, its really slow and leaves you waiting.

Do not get this phone.

Well I had this phone for about a week and am just not very happy with it. There are two major downfalls. The first of which is the locking system. You can lock the phone so the touch doesn't come on but to unlock it you can either hold in a button on the side of the phone or touch a button on the screen... If you have it in your pocket your phone will constantly become unlocked and buttons will be being pushed as you walk around. This results in you calling people or doing whatever plus it drains the battery like crazy since the backlight is coming on.

Next the vibration is too weak. I like to keep my phone on vibrate at work, if I keep it in my pocket with the vibrate turned up to full I can't feel it when I receive a text message. If I put on my DESK in front me I still miss it and my office is not that noisy. I did a little research and found this is not uncommon.

The keyboard is a bit tiny but it's still useable. I like the look of the phone, some of the software is useful. The "widgets" are ok although some of them are pretty useless. Overall I suggest you avoid buying this phone, I am most likely going to try to return this one as I very much dislike it. DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!

for the past mobile i had this is the best mobile i will realize...the actual camera clarity is all good and the full touch pad also is simply super .....and the keypad is all very much interested to write or sending sms.....and this is a pritty good mobile made by samsung .....

ah ever all a gud fone

its a reallie gud fone jst bought it yesterday :) the desigh is preety emprecive the style is amazng the camera nd sound is awsmm;0 THE KEY PADS A LIL GHARD BUH ILL GET USE TO IT U WILLL TOO:) go for it:)corby pro comes with an amazng headphones realliy the bass blew my mind of the quality is amazing over all its a really very gud fone:))

I love this phone!! i got it a few months ago now and have only good things to ay about it. the qwerty keypad is a little soft and it takes a little while to get used to, but once you are used to it, its quite nice and easy to use. the touch screen is sensitive, the design is nice. the camera is pretty basic, but thats to be expected from a 2mp camera, but still sharp enough. the camera also comes with a lot of cool features, such as frames, mosaic shot, camera effecs such as sepia, black and white, negative, sketch, and view finder mode. it also takes an ok video, not too bad. it has useful widgets and shortcuts, such as composing a new message, or going to your speed dial. the music player and FM radio are also a plus, both very clear and crisp. i have no problem getting on the internet the only downside i found was that its a little slow, and no wi-fi. there are also other useful applications, such as a stop watch, timer, bluetooth, voice recorder,  world clock, converter, and a lot more. as for the battery life, its pretty good. mine lasts for 2 days on one charge, no matter how much i text, however, it does shorten a lot if you use the internet or make calls. keep in mind that this phone was created for youth, and it is not a phone i would reccomend for business. the design is basic, and the layout makes it so much less confusing. also, answering a question commonly asked, im pretty sure you cant change the pictures in the slideshow when the phone is locked. also, they...

i just had one i really regret of having this... i cant get to wifi connection.... i cant open the browser and downloads...it seems that i was just wasting my money buying this phone because i was after of the wifi features but i cant connect it and i still used my pc instead to check my emails

YOUTUBE AND NIMBUZZ AND OTHER CHATING SOFTWARES

Hi!
    I have tried several times to download nimbuzz software on this phone but not able to connect through this youtube downloader works but files are not supported content please guide me in this regards. Whenever it is on call no other function work we can only read or write messages but how can we use other application durin call i used nokia phones for 12yrs but its realy hard to use samsung not user friendly samsung star 5233 can run youtube which is cheaper than this phone but it doesn't i am sad that i have missused my money please upgrade its software so that we can do better with it plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Really like it.

 I've had this phone for a little while now, and I really like it. The hybrid touch screen and qwerty keyboard are great and easy to use. The keyboard also isn't loud which is nice. Only problem I really had was when I tried to make a call to an automated number which wanted me to type in numbers from the keypad to get what I needed, which was difficult with the touch screen. Also, the instruction manual wasn't particularly detailed, so it took a bit of playing around to figure out all the functions. Overall, good phone for a low price.

Its ok, but not impressed

Im having a hard time getting this phone hooked up to my computer... Unlocks and calls people on my recent call list, and phone book while in my pocked. I have to delete my recent call list everytime i use it or it will call that person all day... I rely on that instead of going through my phonebook everytime to find the number i want to call. Havent been able to set up email... keep getting error messages. Camera is poor quality and no flash. I liked my old cheap razor better.

Problems with the phone:
1. Does not connect to the computer ie. The device is not recognized even though a USB cable is provided.
2. Does not have 3G
3. Does not have WiFi
4. Music player does not categorize songs on the basis of artist, album etc.
5. Videos do not play full screen
6. Installed applications do not rotate when the phone is slid open. Very inconvenient for opera, web browsers & games.
7. Touch screen doesn’t function for many of the applications installed
8. Call volume has a maximum of 7 & this is too soft in crowded places
9. Frequent call drops
10. Phone restarts when a new application is installed
11. No themes, got to get used to the two preinstalled themes
12. Menu items can not be rearranged
13. No new widgets can be installed
14. Installed applications can not be placed on the home screen as a shortcut /widgets
15. Composed emails can not be broken into paragraphs.
16. Internet bookmarks can not be rearranged
17. Touch screen keypad doesn’t have T9
18. Bulky phone. Cover makes it bulkier, but without cover it calls random people
19. Still haven’t managed to get messenger functioning
20. Filthy user interface
21. Keyboard keys have to be pressed with finger nails, not finger tips.
