great phone for everything but bad battery...

siim has owned it for less than year before publishing this review

Great phone, but still regret buying it.
I regret buying it, because I spend a lot of time on the move, in the internet and listening to music, but with this phone you have to have you're charger always with you.
And due to not having 3G nor WiFi it takes a lot of time to load the webpages.

Build quality 10/10
It doesn't break when dropped and it has great button assignment.
Reception 10/10
I have had this phone for almost a year and have never lost signal.
Call quality 10/10
Internet 6/10
slow due to missing 3G or WiFi.
Multimedia 9/10
Supports lots of file formats including word and saved webpages.
Camera 7/10
Quality is good enough but when not enough light, camera runs slow...
UI speed 6/10
I'd consider it fast phone if it wouldn't take so long time loading these 600 songs I have...
Everyday usage 8/10
Easy to use, has everything you may need (Camera, SMS, Calls, Drawing) and gestures for fast access.
Text input 10/10
Keypad, keyboard and drawing (whole screen or box) letters
Display 9/10
Good colours, great backlight, seems a bit non-responsive at the corners (just press harder).
Battery 8/10
I live with music so I have to charge my phone battery atleast once a day (longest period has been 3 days).

tell me wat shud i do , i hav msg sign even when my outbox is empty...
all other features are nice but this frustrates me.
my friend (he has LG KP500 which is much slower and has more bugs than LG GS290) said that you have to push harder to use the screen but i didn't saw a big difference, maybe because I got used to it.

My opinion about LG GS290

I've had this phone for about two months and it still works great, it's sometimes slow but fast enough for me, it has great 2 mpix camera it seems slow and makes blurry pictures at night but when there's enough light it works great.
It has built in FM radio antenna so you can listen to the music without headset, but I'd preffer listening to radio with headset because signal strength is better then. I like the option to record radio, then I can always take sample of my favourite songs and ask from friends if they know the name...
It's player is a little bit slow, especially then when you have about 300 song on the phone. but when the player has started it works normal and when player is open you can change the song by sliding finger over the screen. It has handwriting recognition so you can send messages by tiping like with older keyboard 2-ABC aso., full keyboard or by drawing in a box or on full screen, it sucks dough it doesn't support teaching of handwriting recognition... The phone looks good, has memory card support up to 16 GB, has java 2.1 (older phones had java 2.0), it has 3.5mm headphone jack (like on mp3 players), it has quite good speaker though it doesn't support manual equalizer adjusting (preset EQ works good so there's no need to change it), volume with headphones is loud (depending on the current songs volume too) so you don't have to listen to street noises (even with original headset), you can also between 2 themes black with adjustable color or white wich...

Pros

  • Charged with USB
  • 3.5 mm earphone socket (same as mp3 players)
  • 3.2 inch screen which quality stays by viewing from different angles
  • Built-in radio antenna
  • Adjustable theme, menu and font
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • Handwriting recognition
  • 3 ways to write: keypad, keyboard, 3 handwriting styles (box, double box, screen)
  • Supports dictionary for faster writing
  • Cool looking gallery
  • Status summary when pressing on top of the screen on desktop

Cons

  • No WiFi
  • No 3G
  • Camera slow in the darker areas
  • No Accelerometer (used to turn the screen at the side when the phone is turned at the side or when playing games)
  • Camera has no flash
  • Has no stick included
