Huawei MediaPad user review

rayaz has owned it for less than 3 months before publishing this review

Eagerly waiting Phonearena's review to see their comments since the exposure devices are so immense i am sure i can learn a bit on my device!

Build quality 8/10 The back plastic effect is not to my liking, the build quality is decent. I had the misfortune of dropping device glass first onto on an very uneven cement and rock surface. The glass with stood the drop, mainly thanks to the protruding metal which took the main hit with some minor dents, but still a strong testimonial to the build!

Reception 8/10 I had some problems where it reverts to 2G mode when it should be firmly on 3G. However the latest firmware released in Jan 2012 fixes this, and now it picks up signals even when its is very weak.

Call quality 10/10 No call feature, so rating it full since it should technically be not effecting its rating. However i saw in some forums that people have been able to install a custom apk to get calls and sms working, and the ICS upgrade will officially allow calls and sms is what i have heard.

Internet 9/10 Internet is fast, though with the original firmware i noticed it did not match the speed i got from my sony arc. However the latest firmware update has made vast improvements on the internet speeds.

Multimedia 8/10 Good screen, good volume, decent codec support, hardware support for 1080P video

Camera 4/10 Does it job, that is it! No LED means its pretty much dependent on good light. However even then its pretty noisy, videos are rather bad and cannot handle fast movement. Front camera is decent but not great.

UI speed 7/10 Good but not a match for a IPad, however the touch implementation has improved significantly in the Jan 2012 firmware.

Everyday usage 8/10 Good size, connectivity options, built in 3G and wifi

Display 8/10 Good screen but still not as great as the new line of Samsung IPS and AMOLED screens. But better than most.

Battery 7/10 Decent
