U.K. buyers of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge get rewarded with a free Gear Fit 2
With the Samsung Galaxy S8 expected to launch in April, Samsung is trying to help retailers reduce inventories of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. So in the U.K., consumers who purchase the Galaxy S7 edge will also receive the Samsung Gear Fit 2 for free. This deal runs to February 28th and works like this. Purchase the handset from any participating U.K. retailer in a physical store or online, and then go to Samsung's website to arrange the receipt of your fitness tracker.

Actually, there are four steps to the entire transaction. It goes like this:

  • Purchase an S7 edge from a participating retailer between Jan 12, 2017 and Feb 28, 2017
  • Click the "claim now" button on the website and complete and submit the online claim form
  • You will receive a confirmation email within 30 days of making a successful claim
  • You will receive your Gear Fit2 by either next day delivery for a UK mainland address or 2-4 day delivery for a non-mainland address

The Samsung Gear Fit 2 features a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 216 x 432 resolution. It is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM. It comes with 4GB of native storage, and is powered by a 200mAh battery. The wearable has an IP68 certification rating. That allows it to be submerged to nearly 5-feet for as long as 30-minutes, and escape unscathed.

The Gear Fit 2 runs on Tizen, and supports phones running Android 4.4 or higher. It soon will start working with an Apple iPhone 5 and up, powered by iOS 9 and higher. The Gear Fit 2 includes GPS capabilities and heart rate monitoring. Thanks to auto activity tracking, the wearable knows what exercise you are doing automatically, and starts generating the appropriate data. Count your steps and try to hit your target. Compute the number of calories you've burned off while active. The device is valued at the equivalent of $215 USD making it a valuable freebie for U.K. Galaxy S7 edge buyers.
