Sony starts updating Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, rest of the Xperia gang to soon follow

Sony is pushing the Android 4.3 update to its Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra as we speak, so if you own one of the two juggernauts in the Xperia line for this year, you can sleep tight knowing that a newer Android version will be hitting your handset soon. Sony says that not only does it include Android Jelly Bean's Project Butter, but also new Timescape functions, and overall performance tweaks. Here's the changelog you can expect:

  • Google’s Android 4.3; Jelly Bean as standard – bringing Project Butter performance & UI optimisation and a smoother graphical experience
  • Launched with Xperia Z1, we’re now bringing Sony’s Smart Social Camera to Xperia Z Ultra – our signature camera experience, that lets you download, access and enjoy “Xperia camera apps” directly from within the viewfinder
  • We’re also uplifting Sony’s entire native app portfolio to the latest versions – bringing tweaked / improved / current experiences for (to name but a few): Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, Sony Select and…
  • Sony’s Media apps: WALKMAN, Album and Movies, with Sony Entertainment Network cloud service integration - a more converged and full Sony entertainment experience – Sony Entertainment Network & PlayMemories integration with a more intuitive UI, offering seamless access to both local and cloud content
  • The launch of our unique custom interface experience: “Xperia Themes”, with downloadable UI packs from Sony Select – more on this soon…
  • The latest Android security enhancements, matched with Sony’s mobile enterprise solution: Xperia in Business

At the end, Sony says that the rest of the 2013 Xperia gang will also receive the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update in short notice, including those same tweaks above, so not much waiting left.

Z1 should get 4.4 or 4.4.2 directly.

Wow, by this time next year they'll be at least on 4.4.1, maybe even 4.4.2!

How about not bothering about these updates and tryin CyanogenMod?

{Android 4.4.1 already rocking on my Samsung Galaxy S II (Nearly 3 years old!)}
{If I stayed with TouchWiz, I would be stuck on 4.1.2}

There are people who wants the official stock rom. Guess those people prefer the stock ROM. Sony's UI seems to be the nicest and not so in your face.

Yeah, Sony's UI is better than most manufacturer's.. but you may be lacking some cool features from latest Android builds..

I wish Sony's multimedia apps are downloadable in the Play Store. Those are the best multimedia apps I have ever used. Easy and pretty UI. Sideloading it in my Note 3 would be possible but features would be limited.
