Alleged pictures of HTC Aero appear (UPDATE)
Yesterday, we passed along a picture that claimed to show the back cover of the HTC Aero (aka the HTC A9). Looking very much like the back of an Apple iPhone 6, the picture was later exposed as a photoshopped fake. But there actually was some truth in the fake picture. You see, the image was photoshopped by someone who was told what the Aero looked like, and then put together the photoshopped image to match the description.

That might be the only way we can account for the picture that accompanies this story. This photo allegedly shows off the real HTC Aero. As we pointed out earlier Monday, the back of the Apple iPhone 6 actually looks very much like the HTC One (M7) and HTC One (M8), so HTC should not be blamed for the similarity between the rear of the Aero and the iPhone 6.

Like the original photoshopped image, the newer picture was grabbed off of China's micro-blogging Weibo site. So once again, we recommend that you take this new photo with a grain of salt, just like you did with Monday's story.

The Aero (as we said, also known as the A9), is expected to feature a 5.5-inch screen with 2.5D curved glass, 4GB of RAM, and could be powered by a MediaTek Helio X20 SoC which would carry a deca-core CPU. There has also been talk of a groundbreaking new camera for the phone, which could arrive as soon as next quarter.

source: Weibo, Mobilissimo.ro (translated) via GforGames

UPDATE: We've added a picture that claims to show the front panel of the HTC Aero. You can find that image, as well as the one showing the back of the device, by clicking on the slideshow above!

No phone really has any original design, they are all building on top of other designs/features from previous phones, hasn't been much originality for years in the phone market.

Oh please. Lets talk about Htc m8, Iphone 6, and galaxy 6 just because some of part looks similar doesnt mean they are copying each other. As a whole they have very different design characteristic. Calling galaxy 6 copying ip6 or ip6 copying m8 design are just fanboy bull. Now you must admit this htc aero is what you call copying just like xiaomi or meizu's iphone look alike attempt.

Are you trying to convince yourself with this?
Galaxy S6 metal frame is a clear copy from iPhone 6.
This sh!t from HTC is an iPhone 6 clone.

And YES, they are copying Apple and thinking they can success, But they will never.

Samsung turned its head away from its fanbase by ditching removable battery and SD card from its flagships, and then went to suck Apple's fans d**k by offering smiliar phones and beg them to try its phones for 30 days with that "Test Drive" promotion.

Just admit it and stop being a blind fanboys.

Obviously we won't get an article here on PA mentioning how the S6 looks like the iPhone6. There's too much truth there.

What would be the point of that besides starting fanboy wars? What would be the point of any article going over how similar any phone looks to another one beyond trying to intentionally stoke up heated debates?

The frame and layout of the S6 looks like the iPhone 6. You can celebrate now. Your mission is complete.

Not that it's really relevant, because all tech companies (and I do mean ALL) borrow from each other be it software features or hardware design. Everyone's guilty of something. Good ideas get stolen. That's how the entire industry has managed to get to where it is now. Really, you could say the same thing of any industry that has ever existed in all of human history.

BTW in your wet dreams only S6/Edge look like iPhone 6 (the fugliest iPhone ever made , with huge bezels and disgusting stripes on the back)

Why are you so hostile over inanimate objects? Sheesh.

You seem to take this personally or something.

If you're that riled up over SD cards and removable backs get a g4 and call it a day. No one is forcing you to buy from Sammy. Things change, and time moves on. I can admit I may be biased because I never used removable batteries & I had two micro SD cards fail on me over the course of five years. So for me, it was no big deal whatsoever.

That aside, you would only mistake a galaxy s6 for an iPhone 6 at a distance. And yes, their frames are certainly very similar but not identical. The S6 is flat on the sides. But your point is somewhat valid, it is clear Samsung was inspired by Apple to a certain degree with a galaxy s6. Although I'm not sure about how much, because Samsung was likely already very far along in to creating the galaxy s6's design when the iPhone 6 was released. Samsung also drew elements from one of their previous phones, the Ativ S and really the s6 doesn't look all that different from the entire galaxy line. Outside of its materials.

LG is pretty much the last man standing with removable backs, I really don't know why people keep singling out Samsung. They've been disappearing from the industry for the past 4 years. I can guarantee you the overwhelming majority of Samsung customers never carried around removal batteries anyway, nor has anyone for any other brand. I do wish those that still want those features had the option, but honestly I really don't think most people cared at all. About the loss of RB's that is. Micro SD cards are a bit of a different story, but they may be on the chopping block industry-wide next just like removable batteries. We shall see.

At the very least, Xiaomi and Samsung seem to have left them behind.

So Samsung trying to steal customers from Apple is foolish? Why would it be? Apple has very loyal customers, that're already willing to drop $600 - $1000 for an phone. That is exactly the type of people you would go after. The money is in the high end, companies that try to rely on volume have short life spans especially in the hyper competitive climate the market is currently in. I fail to see why you're upset about Samsung going where the money is. Apple makes more than 98% of the profits in the entire smart phone industry. I would go where the larger slice of the pie was too if I was Samsung. And that move is genius, because a lot of iPhone users would never even consider an Android phone though they've never even used one. I don't see how giving them a chance to try your product and then buy one would be something bad.

For the record, I've owned 7 phones from 5 different companies on all 3 platforms over the past 3 1/2 years. I'm no fanboy.

Also many on the tech site will all soon go after the cheap phone like the motto x and 1+2 and so on, so trying to keep them Samsung fans is hard work for Samsung, you only got to look at the s5 to see what I am on about, Samsung gave them all the thing they needed and they just did not buy and keep using the s3 and s4 and said its not an upgrade Samsung needs more of Apple customers to move over asap

You are the one trying to convince yourself , that iPhone 6 success is based on the design(actually the ugliest iPhone so far with huge bezels and fugly plastic inserts.) copy of ATIV S.
The only thing that made this iJoke success is the larger screens(guess who they follow)
And NO. The metal frame of S6 has nothing to do with iPhone 6
Yes its metal , yes it has holes for the speakers(shouldn't it?) but that's all. And the compare iPhone 6 with 6Edge in your wet dreams,

With this I completely agree. And Samsung don't even hide it.
They know that US is the apple's nest , and try to hit hard there(with "premium" sealed "tin-can-glass-design"). They even release Note 5 first in US. Will they succeed? Don't know. We wish them luck.
But if Samsung don't release later in EU other version of Note 5(hope this is the reason of the delay), We(the real Note users) PREFER Samsung to fail badly in that.

The Galaxy Alpha introduced Samsung's new metal design and was announced prior to the iP6. The S6 used the same design language as the Alpha and Note 4 but added a little radius for more comfort.

Don't even dream of saying Apple own the radius. Apple has had those horrible square edges for years and just finally made it comfortable to hold with the iP6. Both companies made improvements in their latest versions. I still find the Apple design language very bland. They've never really had any character to their design. It's modern and clean and very successful, but also simple, generic and boring. Most iPhone cases cover up the device with something unique, while cases for the S6/edge try to show it off. Zenfone, Moto S, M7, Turbo, Edge, Active, are far more unique phones with way more style. Good or bad is in the eye of the consumer, and they appeal to less people when they are built for a certain demographic rather than the whole market.

I'm just saying "a metal frame" is not copying anyone. Phones require a frame, plastic, metal, carbon fiber, whatever. And the Apple frame hardly even has anything to copy. A rectangle with radii really does sum it up. So any other company that puts minimal effort into their product will automatically end up with an Apple shape. It takes 2 features in CAD to model the Apple form factor. (i'm not saying the internals aren't complex) But almost every other phone on the market has more complexity/style, so just stop calling anything a copy of such a generic shape.

I agree, don't clone Apple and then hope for success. Only Apple will succeed with boring design, because it's Apple. They should just patent boring.

I suppose you're just going to keep telling the lie that Apple and HTC have an agreement on sharing design until that lie becomes true. You've discredited yourself by typing this bs over and over. The link to their agreement is provided. You may want to actually read it instead of acting like you were a lawyer doing the negotiations. Yes, the Galaxy S6 does LOOK like the Ativ S. Materials and design are two different things. Everything you ever type from here on is pretty much useless.

Don't be one of those douches that revolve everything around the money maker. I know it's human nature to because the spotlight is pretty much on Apple and the majority will say the same s**t you just did but take a step back and look.

The main point is:
WHY SHOULD HTC make phone with design of the most ugliest iPhone EVER .
The success of iPhone 6 has nothing to do with it's design. The success was only because of the large display(guess who they followed?), despite of the fugly design.
Well, we know that Apple and HTC have a contract, so no problem there otherwise.

Iphone 6 copied HTC but its was permited by HTC as they share lots of goodies now.

Samsung S6 is just a blatant copy of the iphone6 with better hardware and android on top.

As for this new Aero phone ( if real ) would not be a copy really because again Apple and HTC share lots of goodies including design.

Gustavoace nope.
They share patent for design.

In fact its Apple thats contacted HTC to settle any court problem regarding similarity.

They offered HTC a share agreement.

This mean HTC can use most of Apple design and feature and Apple can use what they always wanted from HTC the design.

HTC been using full metal body with similar style than the iphone 6 since the iphone 4 ( HTC Desire and HTC desire HD )

So HTC been doing this since a long time way before Apple started to think about the iphone 6 design.

If I may insert another article of evidence to further your point:

https://www.mobigyaan.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/HTC-Desire-816-4.jpg

This picture shows the side of the Desire 816 from the side, which conspicuously had rounded sides. Not only that, but the back glossy portion melded perfectly into the sides, a la the front panel of the iPhone 6. but wait! This phone came out a half-year before the iPhone 6! Almost seems like Jony Ive took the One M7 and Desire 816 designs and mashed them together to get his current design.

But since most people aren't techies, they'll just say: "Hey look! HTC copied Apple!"

How Infuriating...

Apple and HTC made a contract to use everything from each other (and coalition using same propaganda against Samsung)

In the time it took you to write this complete nonsense, you could have actually searched for the truth.

But, spreading BS is easier I guess.

1. HTC did not pay anything to Apple
"However, the framework between the two companies, as established in section 6.3 and 6.4 show all the money going one way, HTC to Apple. "

2. Ignorant. = You

3. They both refused to show Samsung.
Samsung never asked them, they asked a judge, who said they could see it.
