Motorola Moto X+1 shown in a 30-second video along with its funky Motorola boot animation

Motorola Moto X+1 shown in a 30-second video along with its funky Motorola boot animation
Following the critical success of the Motorola Moto X, it would appear that the US-based company (ownership of which traded hands from Google to Lenovo recently) is readying a sequel, and so far we know the device simply as the Moto X+1.

Not much has been unearthed about this reportedly upcoming Motorola flagship, but we have a feeling things are about to change. Courtesy of TK Tech News, a 30-odd second video of the alleged Moto X+1 is now a reality, and we have our first more convincing glimpse at the device. We don't get to see much beyond its funky Motorola boot animation, which is as creative as was the one on the original Moto X

In case you're wondering, the video is of poor quality (and has those annoying stickers all around) in order to protect the identity of the device, which, according to the source, can be used to pinpoint the exact leaker. Thankfully, this is apparently only the first out of five upcoming Moto X+1 video leaks, so we'll keep a watchful eye out.

In related news, apparently TK Tech News managed to get their hands onto the X+1 after offering a whopping, $25,000 bounty to anyone who comes up with the device. As it turns out, at least according to the publication itself, 25 grand were enough to salivate a Motorola employee, who gave up the device. Whether such a massive amount of cash really did change hands is impossible to confirm, but it does seem like we may have another leaker in town, intent on building a strong track record. Stay tuned.

Yes. The phone got overwhelmingly positive reviews from practically every tech publication which reviewed it.

And yet the sales were lukewarm.

Nobody's arguing against that, though the phone gets pretty good ratings from people who actually bought it.

"who actually bought it."

Good thing I did buy it. You can stop assuming now.

I know you bought it. I said "who actually bought it" because I was acknowledging that it didn't sell that well, but the relative few who bought the phone usually love it.

Anyway, the point is that bringing up the phone's sales record does not in any way reflect its quality as a device nor does it serve as proof that the phone WASN'T a critical success, because there's a plethora of reviews to prove it was.

Seemed like you were saying something else.

Reviews mean nothing if no one buys the phone which is why the assembly plant in Texas is shutting down.

Slim Bezels and plastic construction....
Hope it has the same/better build quality and ergonomics as its predecessor
Also the Snapdragon 805...

I'd still be fine with the S801 combined with a sizable increase in battery capacity. Hopefully they improve the display quality (similar to that of the Galaxy S5 or Lumia Icon) and camera lens/ sensor as well.

It was written "a Google company". This means the prototype or a perfectly working phone was made long before.

The sale process has started between Google and Lenovo, but it'll still be a while before Motorola is a Lenovo company.

Thanks, anonymous tipster!

Eh..I have the Moto X..I love it.. no complaints..after the firmware updates the camera got much better that was really all that was bugging me. The wireless performance is awesome, signal is great..I'm on Sprint and I was able to get LTE in NJ in an area where there is barely any service..I know the other devices are better speced but I can't live without my active notifications..fk it..I'm getting either the Moto X + 1 or the Phablet they plan on releasing hehehe

I like my Moto X as a backup phone. I'm not expecting top level specs or anything but at least something extremely close to the current flagship generation.

It was a CRITICAL success despite the seemingly lack of sales. Plenty of reviews liked the phone, one of which bought one for himself.
